Here is the pic of the O-Ring I just put it over the guide rod and spring, It ends up being pushed to the middle. Instead of the familiar ping of metal to metal when racking the slide back you just feel a thud. We will see how it goes tomorrow at the range.

I've run about 400 rds thru mine with the o ring in. Broke it down had no trouble removing the slide. No ware on the o ring and the SR22 ran flawlessly with it in place. there's alot of posts with pictures on rimfirecenteral.com Go to Ruger other guns and look for the thread SR take down lever failures.

Tiger Ruger
I'm using a 3/8" odx 1/4" id & 1/16" thick o ring. I find it just slides along the recoil spring a little better. Kidd makes a bolt buffer for the 10/22's whih don't have any problems with bolt pins breaking or anything it just cuhsions the recoil force aganist parts. So this is a slide buffer for the SR22

Mine had no O ring when I bought it there for i Will Not put an O ring anywhere it does not belong. I have around 3500 rounds through mine and not one problem ever. Sounds like every one who put an O ring in needs to get them back to ruger. Just my two cents.

I actually shot 200 rounds through it today and noticed that there is no more ping every time the slide cycles. I allready put 500 rounds through this gun total. There is no harm in putting the O-ring there. I had no issues with the gun before the install or after it. There were no FTFs or FTEs. There was a difference that I felt it had a smoother recoil. |

And I have not had any problems with ethier of my SR22's that would make me sent them back. I just wanted to see how the o ring worked. You don't need a bolt buffer on the 10/22's but Kidd sells alot of them for something that you don't need. I just felt it softened the impact on the take down lever. I know they don't put them on at the factory. But a due recall alot of SR9's and LCP's going back to be modified by the factory to correct design problems. You want a good one of our very frequent posters on MK problems showed Ruger that the all metal design of the first LCI's put on the MK's could acidently fire the round if hit the right way. Ruger stopped production for 2 months on MK's to redesign the part which is now part plastic. Because it comes the factory one doesn't mean it can't be improved on. But I do understand how you feel. We buy something we expect not to have change anything to prevent a failure like a take down lever failure or other tpye problems. Just my opioin..
