22/45 Threaded replacement sights?

Hello All,

I just purchased a new 22/45 Threaded Barrel with fixed sights to use with my hopefully-the-stamp-gets-here-before-I-die suppressor. I was not impressed with the other version that is festooned with Picatinney rails that requires an optic to even aim it. But the sights are fixed and I expect I will want something that can be more finely adjusted. Has anyone looked for replacement sights for this model?

Thanks.

-gg, SoCenPA

You can install the factory adjustable sights on it. I did for a friend of mine and they work great.

The sights on shopruger say they are not for the threaded barrel model. Did you make te switch on the threaded model? Thanks.

I had a set of adjustable sights from a 22/45 MKIII that I bought from a guy that had the bluing screwed up on it and sold me cheap. I have a friend who has a 22/45 MKIII with a threaded barrel and fixed sights. We swapped them out without any problem at all. The dovetail for the rear sights were the same size. You need to change out the front sight too, as the adjustable rear needs the taller front sight. He sighted it in with about 5 shots.

That's good news. Thanks. Ruger sells the sights online.

Gunzilla is an unknown quantity at this point
Keep it cheap and simple, just paint the factory sights.

I used 'Sharpie' paint pens, with the white one being an extra fine point. It still bled over the creased line but a just scraped the bleed-over off with a plastic scraper. these work over very well, no issues picking up the sights now!

I just put a set of Williams Firesights on my 22/45 and a friend has the same gun with factory sights. We both tried both guns doing a plate shoot, set up like the Ruger Rimfire Challenge and could actually knock close to a second on average off our times on each run. With factory sights, I averaged 3.25 seconds and with the Firesights, I averaged 2.5 seconds. After we got home, he immediately ordered a set from Midway.

I confirmed today from Ruger tech support that the sights sold on the shopruger site for 22/45s WILL work on the threaded model. The text on the site is incomplete...they should have written not for the 22/45 LITE.

I've ordered a set. Using my 20% discount for registering my gun online.

Edit...not so fast. I first have to buy the adjustable rear Ightest assembly, which is out of stock. Then I can add the fire sights. It's never easy.

I struggle with a sight system for my 22-45 Threaded bl., I started with a Ruger A15901-100 Mark I II III Target Square and V notched Rear Adjustable sight $28.50 and an HiViz (Green) front sight.

I have trouble with the High Vis front sight and I shopped about for a large white dot front sight. Ruger makes AO3611 with a white dot front sight. $9.95. I called Ruger and the tech told me that the only front sight that will work with adjustable rear sight is a AO3610. I can not find such a front sight on the web page. (603 865 2442)

It is a problem as the 22-45 full bull bl.,. The 22-45 Ruger adjustable sight requires a ramp with Dovetail system.

Marble Arms may have the answer. Page 3 of their catalog lists "Front Sight Ramp w/Dove Tail Slot" and they list four options with standard white beads that fit each ramp option. Marble issues screws for them as well. (906 428 3710)

I changed sights on two of my .45 ACP s0-pto XS Systems. Expensive but worth it for fast accurate target acquisition. XS has not yet made anything for Ruger 22 45 that I know of.
Hopes that his helps you a tad or two.

A follow up note. I talked with XS and learned that they recently released
"Ruger Mark II Target Pistol-Bull Barrel, Adjustable Sights Models, Standard Dot Tritium Express Sight, includes front sight base RP-0004S-4.
The kit includes the front sight base, sight insight and screw. The rep., told me that the RP-004S-4 is compatible with the Ruger Rear Adjustable sight on the Ruger MIII Target 22/45.

I ordered the MIII, RP-004S to test it om my MIII 22 45 Target pistol. Expensive, but to date it is worth the money at least for the.45 ACP.

After a recent trip to the range, I am impressed and delighted about the XS Express Sights newly installed on two of .45 ACPs. The sights are ultra fast in target acquisition, super easy and fast to to acquire the target and decide if it is close or extended range and move the Express front sight dot to either distance C =(15 yards E=25 yards)

Shopruger took a standard adjustable rear sight out of Parts Dept. and sent them along with the Firesights. They showed up today. Gonna get them on, then get it on at the range.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Sights and Reflection

Would you lets us know the outcome of your installed sights?

This past week I spent three days at the range with my Ruger adjustable rear v notch and my Hi Vis green front sights. I amazed my self.:15 yards, 10 shot groups, covered with a quarter in the bull.
I will leave the sights alone...obtain a set of eye glasses, now that learned how to use the V and dot.

Enjoy the pistol and the new sight system...it is the best and great fun to shoot.

Better sights

Could someone post the part #s for a good set of replacement sights that will work on the 22/45 threaded barrel model #10150? The stock fixed sights are my only complaint with the gun.

An inexpensive set is a Ruger 22 45 adjustable rear sight with v notch or traditional "U" notch and the front sight is Hi Vis Green (I prefer the green high VIS front sight) High VIS tubes (HRB 2007) come with both red and green tubes and a removal tool in small plastic container.

Let us know how your replacement sights work for you..
