MKII Target Government Model followed me home.

I sold my 22/45 Hunter that I had listed on Armslist, on the way home from that transaction I stopped by a LGS I frequent and found this beauty. Sold a Ruger and bought a Ruger in the span of an hour....yeah I have a problem.

Pictured next to my regular MKII Target.

Nice pair. Those Government Targets are one of the best Marks, ever. Wouldn't mind finding one, myself. Congrats.

Is it my eyes or are those barrels a different length? I had one of those MKII's bought back in around 1975 and I sold it to get my newer MKII Stainless Comp Target. As we always tend to do when we think back I wish I had not sold it and just bought the COMP - - - - but Hey! if we could all go back and act where would we be today ???

You are absolutely right, the standard Target has a 5.5" barrel, the Government model has a 6 7/8" barrel.

One thing I'm not clear on though is did these come with one mag or two? I have the box, paperwork, test target and everything else.

Nice! I like the barrels on those. I have a Mark I with the tapered barrel that I bought new in 1976. I took it to the range and a young guy thought it was a German Luger.

I bought my Mk II Government brand new back in the 80s, and I love that gun...it has been a flawless performer!

I don't know if this is true or not but it seemed like the MKIIs that came in the old yellow and black box only came with one mag, when they came out with the plastic grey box the seemed to have two mags.

It is true. I bought my Mk II Govt. brand new back in the 80s, and it's in a yellow & black box with just one magazine and a test fired target from the factory.

The MK II Govt looks to be in really nice condition. Mind telling us how much it cost? I have absolutely no idea how much they go for.

I paid $355 for it, and it was in mint shape....so nice in fact that I have already sold it to someone that made an offer that I could not refuse.

Kind of miss it though.

Perhaps they have a support group for hyperactive gun traders. Though it would just be an excuse to get together & swap guns, right?

Ruger 22/45 MarkII Goverment Model

Congrats,
On your purchase, I just purchased the same setup a P678GC factory replacement pistol that my FFL dealer sent in for repair and they replaced it.

I have been looking at this one for over a month, did some homework to find out about it's lineage and just had to buy it.

Mine came in a brown cardboard box with one Mag. and I paid a bit more for mine as well, how many of these Mark II's do you think their can be in this condition, it's only money.

I can't wait to fire it off, but my papers are being processed and were just sent in by our local PD today.

I'll send photo's as soon as I can get my hands on it.
