| Ruger 22/45 Lite
After much indecision, and drooling a while, I finally ordered a 22/45 Lite yesterday. It should be here (or at least at my FFL) in a couple of days.
I know that I don't NEED it, but I just wanted it.
When I first saw a review of one of these, I didn't think very highly of it.
But it has grown on me.
Go ahead, tell me I did a bad thing.

I'm sorry I can't do that. I really like mine. Very consistent and a lover of my favorite cheap federal bulk round. Have had no issues to date with about 1000 rounds through it. I think you will enjoy it. Here is a video of mine showing the lite in action. |

Wow. Nice video, and nice shooting.
Because of a technical snafu, the selling dealer didn't get my dealer's FFL until late today. So it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday before it shows up.
I've also ordered a magazine disconnect bushing, and a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight for it.
Hopefully it'll all show up in time to get it together and take it to the range NEXT weekend.
Thanks,
Duane

Looking forward to the range report. Not really a fan of the gold anodizing but supposedly Ruger is coming out with more colors, and I just noticed recently that the grip panels are replaceable. I've been wanting a 22/45 or MKIII, this is starting to look more attractive.

When I got home today, I had an e-mail notice that my Ruger 22/45 Lite has been shipped.
Should be here (at my FFL) Wednesday.

Finally got it this morning. Picked it up from my FFL, and we fired 20 rounds on his backyard range. We didn't even try to adjust the sights. They were close though.
I had other things to deal with today, but I'm home now, and put the Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot sight on it, and just for the heck of it screwed on this Tactical Innovations FS22 fake suppressor. It looks and feels good. I think that the little extra weight on the muzzle end may help... or not. It's easy to experiment with that.
Anyone who's been concerned about the appearance of the Gold Anodizing can relax. It looks Silver, with just a slight hint of Gold. Depending on the light, you may not see any Gold at all.
I like it. I'm planning to take it to the range tomorrow, and tweak the sights.

On that Feather shooter you got.
Looks good, I like my LITE, it will be getting a Trigger job soon and i am with you on the color, I really like the Silver color,
I think that Ruger messed up on mine as Mine does not look Gold at all, at least not to me.

Congratulations mate, enjoy.
I would probably get one if legal in AU (barrel too short).

| It works like it should have from the factory now.
I've removed the magazine trigger disconnect, using a BAM's hammer bushing. It's very similar to Sam Lamm's. BAM's Hammer Bushing
The magazines SHOOT out when I press the magazine release now.
I also did the "Slingshot" modification while I was at it. (removing the Bolt stop plunger, and bolt stop plunger spring) Now I don't have to depress the bolt stop. I can just "Slingshot" it.
BTW, the only tools I used were a jeweler's screwdriver, and the Allen wrench that came with the gun.
I did NOT use a hammer to bang it apart.
The Allen wrench was used for 2 things. To remove the grip panels, and to simply push the pins out of the frame. (After the retaining springs are depressed)
The Jewelers screwdriver served several purposes. (I never did use it as a SCREWDRIVER)
1. It lets you depress the retaining springs, so that you can use the Allen wrench to simply push the pins out. (as opposed to banging them out with a hammer and pin punch)
2. It served as an alignment tool to put things back together.
3. It let me push things back into place that my fat fingers could not reach.
It DID take me a while. (about 1 1/2 hours) But I wasn't in a hurry, and I had it apart several times.
First I did the magazine trigger disconnect change. (I like to change ONE thing at a time.)
When I was done with that, (and the gun was back together) the magazines dropped fine, but I couldn't retract the bolt.
It took a few minutes to figure out that I'd let the sear flop over backwards. I finally figured that out, and fixed it.
OK. Lesson learned.
Then I decided to do the Slingshot modification. This required that I take it apart (AGAIN) To do this, I had to remove the trigger to get the bolt stop assembly out.
All together, I've had it apart about 6 times by now. (I wasn't counting)
A Ruger Mark III 22/45 is NOT so hard to disassemble and reassemble as some people say. Look at your online resources first though. There are some tricks, but they are easy to learn. Once learned, it's simple.
I was afraid to do a detailed take down... no more.
It ain't rocket science after all. Take your time, and learn as you go.

Congrats on the 22/45 Lite. I really want one as I find the looks so appealing, BUT we can't have it here in California, so I'll just drool at those pictures.

It's a shame that a "target" gun can't be bought there. Totally insane.
