Picking up the 22/45 Lite this Wednesday.

Another question (open to anyine who cares to respond):

Any thoughts on ammo? I'll be using the ammo in the 22/45 Lite, as well as in a 10/22 TD that I picked up awhile back.

Mission Critical, I've been using Federal Auto Match. It comes in a 325 round box. It works very well in both of my MKlll. I have good results with CCI Standard Velocity (40 grain round nose) in all of my 10/22's..

Fan45acp,

No, I have not done anything to the trigger. Mine seems to be pretty decent.

Of course, I'm subject to change my mind.

For example, I "thought" that I was happy with my Springfield Armory XD(m)'s factory trigger, until I shot someone else's gun that had a PRP Ultimate Match trigger. WOW ! What a difference THAT was.

I ordered one and installed it in short order, and have been VERY satisfied.

But, for now anyway, I'm happy with my 22/45 trigger as it is.

Aloha Duane and Fan45acp,

Thanks to you both for the input. Picking up my 22/45 Lite tom'w... can't wait!

Hopefully, I'll be able to get out to the range this weekend to test both the Lite as well as the 10/22 TD!

@ Duane - Taking your advice (and following inline with Fan45acp!) I just ordered the BAM stainless steel bushing. Thanks also for the ammo suggestion... Walmarts in Hawaii don't carry firearms, so I'll have to hit up the local Sports Authority and LGS to check out the selection of .22 ammo. Will post results!

@ Fan45acp - Thanks for the advice. I'll look into Federal Auto Match. I've also heard good things about CCI Mini Mag? As stated above, will post results as soon as I get out to the range!

Love the helpful community here on rugerforums.net!

Mahalo,

Hey mission critical...I'm from Hawaii also. Moved to Oregon. Good to see another local here. I just picked up my Lite a couple weeks ago. Shot 1500 rounds through it the first trip to the range. I used Federal Auto Match (does seem to shoot a bit dirtier than regular Federal Bulk packs or CCI Minimags) but everything I ran through the pistol shot well with no FTE or FTF's.

Running stock iron sights at 50ft was a challenge with black targets. Tried model paint but didn't like it. Did some quick research and couldn't find Hi-Viz/Firesights for the Lite yet but read somewhere that a guy used bull barrell 22/45 sights and worked....I ordered some through Brownells so I'll see what happens. Most say the front sight is too high but I don't see it being too far not be able to adjust the rear to accomodate the height difference.

Ordered a bushing to replace the mag/dc as well...took it apart this morning before work with no manual online help...braddah, had to give up cause I was late for work to get it back together. Got it all back together after watching a vid on youtube. After looking at the mag/dc arm and spring though....has anyone just dremel'd the tab and cut off the lower portion of the arm to make into a "bushing"? I can't seem to tell the difference.

Also, I took the detent ball/pin and spring out of the bolt release lever...after burning through that much ammo that day at the range, I could see how irritating the bolt release can become....now it's run a mag...bolt open...eject/load mag....pull bolt back and release...good to go. Not sure if it really makes a noticeable difference in reload speed but it is one less thing to do, so I suppose it does SOMETHING. Anyway, good to see someone from Hawaii on here. Way to represent the 808!

Howzit Steinyota!

Thanks for the info, and good to know there's another 808'er on the forum!

Hope the Pacific Northwest is treating you well, bruddah!

I picked up my Lite yesterday, and registered it with HPD this morning.

Ordered a Bam mag disconnect bushing... Gotta say, Brian sent the bushing right out and I received the bushing in the mail, this afternoon. Great service and an overall cool guy! Will install tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to try out the Lite either on Saturday or Sunday.

Will keep you all posted with developments.

Thanks, again, to all for the info!

Yeah, it has been done, very successfully. I chose to replace the bushing, and keep the OE part unmodified. I'll probably never re-install it, but if i want to, I can.

I just received my Firesights both front and rear today from Brownells....

FYI to all Lite owners....
They fit. Perfectly in fact. Install was a snap. Front sight looks to be a bit taller than the stock one but the rear sight looks like ti will adjust just fine. I may have to get a taller spring if it does not. Will take it to the range tomorrow and let yall know.

Thanks-

Adjusting the rear sight to its max elevation bring POA at 50ft running fed bulk packs and minimags level with the bull. The gun can outshoot me but now acquisition is a breeze and im finding it much easier to maintain in rapid succession. Couldnt b happier after all that model paint wastage.

I tried a file on that OE disconnect Duane, ur right...works perfectly. 10 mins on a file and a few test fits was all it took. Just wish I had my dremel to make it a breeze.

Not sure who else has the Slingshot mod but after 3-350 rounds of federal bulk the bolt was hanging open because the release lever was sticking. Now I really need to get that dremel to get a spring in.

Let us know how that works out. I've not felt a need for that. Once I cleaned out the "factory grease", mine has worked pretty well. Nope, not EVERY time, but most of the time.

Shot 500 through it the other day. Not a problem. Just so happens there was a guy next to me shooting a lite with a truglo red dot. He was amazed to hear about the mods. He really like the new sights I got too

love my LITE

looks silver to me! i added a holo type red dot, fantastic combo! if you use the ruger rail USE BLUE LOCKTITE or the rail WILL SHOOT LOOSE in about 50 shots. go ahead and do the front sight screw while you have the blue handy, it will loosen up ALSO!! experiment with ammo, i had to cause my pistol is VERY picky. i settled in with fed 550 bulk and cci mini mags. it doesnt like anything else.

I purchased a 22/45 Lite a couple of weeks ago. Mine is more Silver than Gold.
I added a Tactical Solutions front red sight & a Tactical Solutions Muzzle Brake.

I took it out for a test Drive last week & was very surprised how accurate it is. I know it's only a .22 but the muzzle brake may help.
I also took along my S&W Model 41. The 41 is very nice but I have to shoot standard Velocity Ammo. The Ruger Lite shoots anything. I used Federal Bulk 525 & Winchester 333 with out any issues. Also shot some standard Velocity.
The Higher Velocity were more accurate with the 22/45 Lite. It was my first outing with it.
Green Mountain Gun in Lakewood Colorado has the for $369.00 all the time. No, I'm Retired.
This is my first post. Thanks everyone for their Greeting.

ruger website

there are some beautiful grips for the LITE, just look under the 1911 grip section. only a tiny bit of filing on left panel,, upper front corner to get a perfect fit. i got the ones with the small ruger eagle--simply beautiful.
