| Range Report
I finally had an opportunity to take the new toy to the range yesterday.
When checking in, the fake suppressor raised the range officer's eyebrows.
He asked to see some paperwork. I told him it's not real, but a fake. He inspected it, and commented that it sure looks real enough. Once he was satisfied that it was not real, he was fine with it. (He'd have also been OK if it'd been real, as long as I had the paperwork to go along with it...)
First, I removed the Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot sight, so that I could adjust the Iron Sights. I was happy with that after about 25 rounds.
I put the Red Dot back on, and started sighting it in. Probably took me 50 rounds to get it exactly how I liked it, at 15 yards.
I then started having a blast. Gradually getting better, until I was about 150 rounds into it, and then I started getting worst. Hmmm... what's this?
Turns out that the scope base was loose. I put the 22/45 away and practiced with my Springfield XDM 45 for a while.
Though the directions said to degrease the holes and use RED Locktite to mount the base, I'd used alcohol to degrease, and BLUE Locktite. Because that's what I had. When I inspected it today I found that the front sight had also loosened up, to where it was flopping around. Hmm...
Today, I used Carburetor cleaner to degrease all of the holes, and screws, and RED Locktite to secure them.
OK, the scope base getting loose was due to my not following directions, but the front sight was none of my doing. (I had not touched it.)
I'm still happy with it. Just a minor snag...

Duane, does the 22/45 Lite accept regular 22/45 MKIII magazines?
My 22/45 Lite is sitting at the LGS during the mandatory two-week wait period, but I learned that MidwayUSA is having a sale on Ruger mags.
I'd like to pick up a few spares, and I thought I'd check here to see if I could get confirmation before pulling the proverbial trigger...
Thanks in advance for your kokua!

Many thanks for the confirmation, Denis!
I ordered a few 10-round mags for my 22/45 Lite.
Unfortunately the 10 round mags for my 10/22 are on backorder.

Mahalo,
mission critical | Sorry, I just noticed your question. Yes, it does use regular Mark III 22/45 magazines. They are different from Mark II 22/45 magazines, so pay attention when shopping !
One thing that I didn't like about the magazines was that the magazine follower button felt gritty. Mark I magazine follower buttons are available from Ruger for $2.00 each. Part number A02502. They are simple to install, and remove all of the gritty feel.

Right on, Duane, and no worries about the delay... lotta helpful people here!
Another question, if I may:
Any thoughts on or experience with the Majestic Arms Speed Strip Kit? Looks like it helps tremendously with takedown, but I've read that some ownera began to experience FTF or FTE issues after installation.

Another thought....
Your really need to do the magazine disconnect modification. It can be done in a couple different ways.
Google Mark III magazine disconnect modification.
I used a BAM bushing. Not saying that's the only way to go though. Cost was $15.00, including shipping.
Made the difference from it being a gun that I was mostly happy with, to it being a gun that I am VERY happy with.
If you want to go the BAM bushing route, here's where to order it: BAM's Hammer Bushing
Here's more info: Ruger Mark III 22/45 Magazine Disconnect Removal - Imgur
The installation is not nearly as difficult as it might appear at first.
Take your time, and it's a piece of cake.

Mahalo! | Don't know anything about the Majestic Arms Speed Strip Kit.
I have not had any problems taking mine down.
I didn't have to beat it apart with a mallet. Yeah, it was a little tight, but it came apart OK.
Putting it back together took me a while to figure out though. There are a couple tricks to it, but once learned, it's very simple.
Removing the magazine disconnect has an additional benefit of making reassembly simpler. And in my mind, much safer. YOU DON'T NEED AN EMPTY MAGAZINE.
I was taught (many years ago) that you should never even have ammo in the same room when you are cleaning, servicing, or otherwise working on a gun.
My opinion is that Ruger's Mark III magazine disconnect is more dangerous, because reassembly requires that you have an empty magazine, to insert, pull the trigger, remove, then later insert, pull the trigger again, remove... etc.
That is a recipe for a negligent discharge. How long is it going to take before you pick up a loaded magazine, instead of the empty one?
Removing the magazine disconnect feature gets rid of all that BS. Plus, it makes the magazine drop out when you press the magazine release. You don't have to pull it out.
OK, off of my soapbox.
Enjoy the new gun.

Duane | Many thanks for the comments, Duane... will definitely look into the mag disconnect mod.
Picking up the 22/45 Lite this Wednesday.
Another question (open to anyine who cares to respond):
Any thoughts on ammo? I'll be using the ammo in the 22/45 Lite, as well as in a 10/22 TD that I picked up awhile back.

| Ammo for 22/45 Lite
I picked up some Federal ammo for use at the range this weekend. I just bought my 22/45 Lite and have not fired it yet.
Any advice before I shoot it?

mission critical | Recently, I've been shooting CCI ,22 LR 40 grain copper plated round nose AR Tactical in all of my .22s. Comes in a 375 round box from Walmart, for about $25.
While not the cheapest thing available, (about $0.066 / round) it seems to shoot really well in my 77/22 bolt action rifle, and in my .22 pistols.
I'll keep looking, but that's my go to .22 ammo for now.

Daune, Thanks for the write-up and the great information. I just ordered Bams' hammer bushing. This will help in reassembly. Next will be a VQ trigger job, have you changed your trigger ?
