Those old Marks tend to be very easy to disassemble, plus fewer parts. My 60s vintage Marks darn near fall apart, once I've taken the mainspring housing out. Some of the new MKIIIs, by contrast are beast to get apart, being so tightly fitted. Some require a hammer and wood or brass dowel and few choice swear words.

Well apparently he likes shotguns a little more.
$40 for the Ruger and scope
$50 for the Stevens 58
$50 for the Stevens 95
$100 for the Investarm |

I got my pop's early MKII out (pic below) and it is like 4x easier to rack then this gun and just wanted to make sure the was normal. Anyway hopefully I will be going to test it out for the first time today. Thanks for all the help guy's.

Well surprise surprise the old Ruger preformed almost flawlessly. (even with my lighter spring fix)
Loading the mag did tear up my fingers but I have worked out a fix for that.
The little scope also worked out good on my 10/22.
I am calling tomorrow to find out the exact date of the standard.
I have another question, can this gun shot hyper velocity ammo?

Really no need to put an old Mark through that kind of test, anyway, as they're at their best and designed to shoot regular 22 LR, either standard or high velocity. Shooting the hyper velocity stuff out of my revolvers has not impressed me with the accuracy, anyway, not to mention the hyper velocity stuff is much more expensive. Stick with standard or high velocity 22 LR and you and your Mark will be much happier.

Probably would never run hypers in it anyway since there is most likely not much gain or reason to in such a short barrel.
I just got off the phone with Ruger and after calling the right place they transferred me to the wrong place, I waited for 30+ min for them to tell me they can't really tell me anything about the gun.
But the site seems to say it's a 64 and from what I can find on the shotgun it's a 54.

Mine's a '66, so basically same gun. Also have a '65 MK I target model. Both great shooters and stay right there with my modded up Mk IIIs. Wouldn't let those old ones go for anything. Very special to me. First thing bill Ruger designed and nothing else like them, not to mention I learned how to shoot a pistol with a Standard back in the 70s.
Enjoy and let us know if you have more questions.
