Sp 101-22

This is a discussion on Sp 101-22 within the Ruger Rimfires forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; I just got a SP 101-22 a week or so ago. Seems to shoot good & with a little trigger work that part isn't bad ...

Sp 101-22

I just got a SP 101-22 a week or so ago. Seems to shoot good & with a little trigger work that part isn't bad now either.

My question is: On this SP 101-22 the hammer stops on the transfer bar & doesn't travel all the way to the frame (if the trigger is held in after the shot the transfer bar is tightly pinched between the hammer & the firing pin). After trigger release the transfer bar drops down & the hammer then goes forward an additional 1/16" & contacts the frame. Is this the way other SP 101-22's are?

Reason I ask is on my GP 100 the hammer hits the frame even with transfer bar all the way up (doesn't quite pinch the transfer bar).

The SP 101 seems to operate Ok like it is it just seems odd that the transfer bar takes the entire hammer fall force & is lightly pinched after hammer fall so the transfer bar has to drop down against that pinching force for trigger reset.
