Does anyone know if you can shoot a 22lr bird shot through an SR22 pistol? And if so what brand? Any help guys? I just want to carry My handgun when out fishing near creaks, a lot of rattle snakes.

About the only bird shot ammo that might feed through your pistol without being delicately hand fed into the chamber would be the bird shot that comes with a crimped in kinda like a shotgun crimp. I havent seen them for sale in a couple of decades and dont know if they still make this kind. Its doubtful they will cycle the action though.

That was one of the biggest reasons for purchasing a Ruger Single Six instead of the sleeker looking Mk III or 22/45...itll eat anything that fits in the hole till the cows come home and then some.

I don't recommend bird shot for the SR 22 pistol unless that is the only use you ever plan for that pistol. The best thing for snakes is a short barrel .410 shotgun (like Snake Charmer). But next would be the single six.

CCI Makes plastic encapsulated Bird/Snake shot. The plastic protects the bore from leading. Hand fed only on Semi's, though. I've never encountered .22 shot that would reliably operate semi-auto's.

Ive used CCI bird short in my SR22 and you have to manually cycle the slide.
