| Just purchased my first Ruger rimfire yesterday
Because my S&W 22A experienced a broken frame yesterday. Ruger replaced a 30 year old Redhawk for me with a 2012 and I wasn't the original owner so based partly on this I owed them one!

Probably should have just bought the Ruger from jump. The 22A was my second .22LR with the first being a P22. The P22 had rear sight and slide problems (crappy metal) and the 22A two-pieced (crappy frame metal). So Steel it is! Ruger® Mark III™ Target Rimfire Pistol Model 10103
I will probably change the front sight to a fiber if it can be changed. Just have to figure out how to do the field strip and in/outs.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it will be here after you're gone. Can't go wrong with a Mark pistol.

Anyone know the inner workings of this one? No shok buffer like my 22A I think? Does the bolt spring need changed often or extractor?
Is the front site changeable to a HiViz?

| Unless you put a zillion rounds through it, I don't 'think' you'll be able to wear it out. The front sight screws on, so it can be replaced .

Congratulations! I have had my Mark III Target for about a month. It is a great gun, fun to shoot, and inexpensive to operate.
In terms of field stripping, there are a lot of good videos on UTube. They saved my life the first time I field stripped and cleaned it. I took it apart but could not get it back together. The UTube videos made it a three-minute job. I had worked for almost an hour trying to reassemble it until I watched a video.
I had my Mark III at the range today and put 100 rounds through it. I was able to easily hit a 7" "Horse" target from 60'. Of course, my wife gave me a lot of grief for shooting at horse targets. You would have thought I had killed Flicka or Black Beauty and I won't even get into the topic of "Bambi" targets.
I hope you enjoy your Mark III as much I am enjoying mine. It is a really versatile pistol. "Stay Safe and Stay Armed!" |

Can't beat a MK.
You've got yourself a fine handgun there.

Unboxed it this morning and put a HiViz front right on.
Should have gotten one in the beginning instead of the learning experiences with the P22 and 22A-1.
Hoping this one lasts a lifetime!

Nice looking stainless target model you have there. It does look like it has a "Failure to eject zip ties" problem - Just kidding. You should get a lot of enjoyment out of that one.

Thanks! I put 300 rounds through it today and it was flawless. Not a single hiccup.
I plan on putting a Wolff spring in it but will Stingers or Aguila Super Maximums hurt it?
I'm getting to be Ruger dominated... if only they made a 10mm Semi!

mk's have been around for 63 years. They're great guns. I know my 3 will out last me. I've got a blued Target, a SS target and a Hunter. All great shooters. I just saw a little artical about them. when they first came out they were $37.50.

Does hyper-velocity stuff even provide much more speed when shot from a handgun?

Great Pistol you got, hope you enjoy it!!
Front sight is really easy, I did it, just use "loc-tite"!
Keep it clean, and check your rebound spring under the firing pin, if ya shoot tons of ammo, like I do, just changed it out...again easy.
Once you fire it for a bit, then think about mods, have fun first then decide, I did the same. No rush on that either just have fun!
As for takedown, its not as bad as you heard. Look at the videos, read the book its not BAD!!
Welcome to the MK family!!!!

Congrats on the new Ruger Intercooler. The stainless versions of the MK's are pretty damn hard to find these days.
