You have an addiction my friend. Luckily I was able to spot the symptoms in time. I should know because I too have the same addiction.....along with most people in this forum I imagine

Bullseye is the common nickname given to Conventional Pistol (indoor/outdoor) Competition because of the style of targets that are shot in the discipline. When you hit the X ring in the center of the target you hit a "bullseye", since the object is to get as many in the center of the target as you can people long ago started calling it Bullseye shooting.

This is the style of pistol shooting used a Camp Perry for the National Pistol Championships. Within the competition there is another match called the Excellence-in-Competition Match, where competitors compete for awards using style military pistols, either 9mm or 45 caliber. When a competitor finishes in the top 10% of all the competitors of the match, they win an award of points. The EIC points you win over a lifetime are kept by the CMP. After winning 30 or more points in EIC matches, a competitor becomes a Distinguished Pistol Shot. (Like the badge you see in my avatar) The match is run under very strict rules and conditions and you can only compete in three of these events per year. You are permitted a fourth only if it is the EIC match at the National Championships.

In Bullseye shooting, there are different matches. Some are rimfire, some are Centerfire, and some are .45 Cal. The type of match depends on the total score of the aggregate of all the events in that competition. Once through a match course results in a maximum possible of 300 points aggregate score. Three match courses would be a 900 agg competition. Through the three match courses, three times each, with all three styles of pistols is called a 2700 agg match. There are other variations in course combinations to achieve an overall aggregate score. Outdoors the match course is fired at two distances, 50 yards for the slow fire stage, and 25 yards for the timed and rapid fire stages. Each of the stages has a set time limit. Slow fire has a ten minute limit to fire 10 shots. Timed fire has a 20 second limit to fire 5 shots, but you do this twice through in 5 shot strings. Rapid fire has a 10 second limit, and again you fire two strings of this for a total of 10 shots rapid. Together they equal 30 shots, which are worth 10 points each on the face of the target for a total possible score of 300. Indoors, Bullseye is shot on reduced sized targets to simulate the level of difficulty of shooting as fired at the outdoor distances.

R,
Bullseye

Thanks, Bullseye. That's what I figured. The FN Five SeveN is .224 and centerfire. But it's a cool round!

Used a MKIII slabside with red dot for my first year of bullseye last year. Intend to upgrade the trigger though frankly the gun still shoots better than me. make sure you buy subsonic bullets ie CCI standard rather than minimags for example. The good thing about 22 bullseye, at least in the league we're in, is that they only count the top 5 scorers each match. That way you can join and learn and not feel you are a drag on your team's scores
