500 rounds is the answer
My new 22/45 had 500 rounds thru it before I went to the local range and I had been getting a very few FTF but today I had 8 with the first 20 rounds.
After talking to the range officer he asked how many rounds thru it I had.
OH MY
forgot about that entirely
thought I could go 1000 rounds but obviously not
after a few donated drops of oil on both sides of the bolt and in the magazines the next 100 rounds went flawlessly
SO NOW - i get to enjoy the experience of taking a 22/45 apart for the first time.
this should be interesting....

Just follow the manual carefully and you will do fine. It isn't as bad as you may have heard, just different than most semi-autos. I clean mine after each range trip.
Yes, you will likely need a small plastic mallet.
If you do the bushing replacement the mag in, mag out, Hokey Pokey dance goes away. Just sayin.

After hearing the stories of owners having trouble with the Mark series of pistols, I was a bit nervous my first time. As you have just read, it is not as bad as it sounds.
This video is very helpful and the fellow gives you a feeling of confidence. Here is the link to it:
Report back and tell how easy it turned out to be. I had more trouble getting my receiver off than I did reassembling it. Some are tighter than others.

I just got a MKIII hunter my third MK. This one is a snap to break down. One lite tap with a small rubber hammer reciever is off. place barrel on leg and give a lite rap with my hand and reinstall the main spring pin which goes right in. It's sure not like my other two. Got to love it. I see I'm not the the only one who watched Moes vidieo on MKIII dissasembly I think that's the best one out there.

A clean gun works for you, a dirty gun works for no one. Get into a routine, clean her after each use.

I'll admit. The process does seem very intimidating to me after reading the instructions. |
