They also stated I could send it into them. They stated that it is a common problem. | Thanks it gives options if the blue Loctite doesn't work. If they know this is a common problem why haven't they corrected it?

A week ago I took my new SP101 22 to the range and the rear sight cross pin worked it's way out. I noticed the adjustment wasn't working real well, I assumed it might be because of the cross pin. Today back at the range. The pin didn't walk, but I went to raise the rear sight , the adjustment screw clicked but the sight didn't come up. I had to put pressure on it pushing it up. When I would push down on it would say down. I got home cleaned it and called Ruger's service dept. I asked for Gil who helped me with my Single Six a few weeks ago
He figures it's the springs missing. The sight has never been removed so they must have left them out if that's the problem. Since it's a new model he was having a hard time finding the rear sight assembly number. Plus they have a new computer system and it's still being programmed. He wanted to send me a complete rear sight assembly. He was going to see if he could find it and I guess will send it if he does. He's sending 4 new springs because they are so small, a new cross pin and a new adjustment screw. Because of the new computer system they have fallen behind shipping parts. He said it might be two weeks before I receive them.
He told me the same thing the way they fix that pin is pinch or slightly bend the end. He also told me it's a common problem.

+1 on blue loctite as a first remedy to pins that want to walk out.
I've also had good results is *slightly* bending the pin (roll it on glass to see the bend) and tapping the pin back in.
I wouldn't use red loctite for pins... high heat can damage the finish and other things (like fingers). Although the pin might be held in pretty well by a chunk of burnt finger...

Cordite | The blue Loctite stopped the pin from walking. Once I fix the adjustment I'll be good to go. Red Loctie I would only use on a few applications which a gun wouldn't be one of them.. I know I had mentioned it as a stand by but I wouldn't use it. Now your idea with a chuck of burnt finger I think I'll pass.

Hello, about the posting of pictures. I know its probably redundant to see the same picture of the same model over and over. For the new guys starting off that do not know the model you are posting about,a picture says a thousand words. They are a great on the spot reference. It was pictures that got me looking into various Ruger models. Now I'm Ruger hooked |

| Ruger Redhawk: glad to see the blue loctite worked out.
I agree with you about pictures. Pictures are nice but not the same old stuff. I can see posting a picture if one makes improvements or dresses the gun up and wants to show it off. |

The Loctite had ran down between the frame and side of the rear sight causing the rear sight to hang up. I only used a drop of it. It probably would have been alright if I pointed the muzzle down overnight. I ended up taking the sight off ,cleaning the Loctite out and put a slight bend on the end of the cross pin.
I'm glad you agree about gun pictures. I get tired of seeing the same pictures of the same guns over and over.I'm all eyes if it's a special edition, a one of a kind gun, or one customized.

I agree they are small framed for my hands. I still have the factory wood panel grips. Jtiv19 has a set of Hogue’s I’m going to try. It is a nice little gun. The main reason I bought it was to replace my M63 Smith the wife took over. Yes that hurt. I sure like that M63. I knew it was a mistake when I gave it to her to shoot.

I am lucky though in the fact that she doesn't mind that I have spent a ton of money getting back into shooting.
Looking at maybe a GP100 for the next purchase. |
