Threading an sr22p barrel

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has any experience getting their barrel threaded especially their sr22. Would it be wiser to get a threaded aftermarket barrel (if they make them) or have a gunsmith thread the existing barrel? Any information will be helpful. Thanks.

I believe Ruger is developing a threaded barrel for the SR22.

I sent them an email asking about it and here is the response FWIW.

"The engineering department is still working on the design of the threaded barrel for the SR-22. Different designs are being tested, with various suppressors from many manufacturers, to assure the best match for both accuracy and reliability is achieved. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to designing a compatible barrel for use with a suppressor than meets the eye. The wrong combination can be unreliable and dangerous. While the threaded barrel is mentioned in the manual, the design was not finalized at the time of the pistol's release. We do not have an anticipated date for it's availability at this time. We do apologize for any inconvenience and urge you to watch our web site for information on the future availability of this accessory."

I'll wait for Ruger to engineer a barrel. I trust their engineering. I think that if they are working one and testing, there is a reason why it's taking a little while. I just don't have faith in "the this is my first time" incorporated.

Every forum I post on has had problems with someone pushing products and one site the person was using multiple accounts to talk up the item. Stay Classy San Diego!

Let see some pics!
