Magazine Disconnect Removal and Reuse Factory Bushing?

Is there any reason you CANT reuse the factory hammer bushing after removing the magazine disco parts from the Mark III series? I have a 22/45 LITE that I installed the Majestic Arms Speed Strip kit, removing the mag disco, but now bought another 22/45 and want to shoot this weekend and wont have a replacement bushing for a week or two if I order one. I know a replacement bushing will give a better trigger feel, but I really want the mags to drop freely the most. I dont need the Speed Strip Kit for this 22/45 because Im not afraid of the re-assembly process(Ive owned a Mark II for 22 years and understand how to work it). I bought the Speed Strip Kit out of curiosity and while its a well made and effective product, I probably wont buy one for this new 22/45 for a while(if at all). Thanks...

When I removed the MD from my Mark III Hunter I just used a couple of washers to make up for the space of the MD. Search you tube for how to videos. You will have to do a little filing on the washers to get a good fit. It has been a while since I did mine so sorry I can't be a little more imformative. Good luck.

Using the MKIII bushing without the disconnecter spring and disconnector allows the hammer to slide sidewise on the hammer pivot pin. This means that the hammer may not contact the sear at the same place every firing cycle which may cause some inconsistency in the trigger pull. It may also cause some binding or uneven wear and so on. That said, it's probably not going to cause any serious issues and you could get away with it, but why not just add a washer or spend the $10 and get a MKII bushing to use?

I do not want to reopen an old argument but I would never disconnect a magazine safety on any gun i might even remotely use for self defense. I will just remind viewers of the old threads and Massod Ayoob's many articles about not disconnecting any safety feature on a self defense firearm.

Well...I removed the mag disco parts, did the slingshot mod, and reinstalled the original hammer bushing. I dont see how this is going to be any problem using the original bushing without the mag disco parts. The gun functions fine. But will the edge of the bushing dig into the frame where the mag disco lever would have been to prevented this? And if this is the case, can I grind away the extra material on the lever, and simply use the little bit of metal that touches the area around the bushing, as a simple washer? This would eliminate trying to make a washer that was just the right thickness, because it would be the original part? What am I missing here?
