I have a 1956 Single-Six and a 1976 Single-Six. They are both perfect functioning weapons. The flatgate, after countless thousands of rounds has only required cleaning. Same for my stainless 200th Anniversary model that I bought new.
It makes me sad to read about all of the malfunctioning modern Rugers. They used to build beautiful weapons that were as reliable as an anvil.

Up to today I've bought 16 handguns, all were NIB, & only 1 of them stood out as a lemon. It was a Walther PPK/S made by S&W. I sent it back to them 3 times then I gave up & sold it. It just wasn't reliable & i refer to it as a "Jam-O-Matic". |

I have owned well over 100 firearms and I have purchased about 30 used and I have never had to return one for warranty repairs except for recalls and most of those were not a big deal.

I have 19 Rugers, out of 25 total. Only one will have to go back, my new Single Six binds on the Long Rifle cylinder. 3 chambers arent drilled deep enough, causing the casings to stand slightly proud, causing the bind.

I'm 65, been shooting all my life, and the only firearm that I could call a lemon was a Ruger SR9. I was all set to love that pistol, it was comfortable and accurate, but the trigger went 12# on mine, and the little potmetal LCI broke one day while I was shooting it. It had the barrel peening issue, too.
Of all the guns that I have owned in my life, I'd consider that a pretty good track record.

out of 3 handguns, 2 shotguns, 2 blackpowders, 4 rifles, never sent any back. One remington 788 has needed gunsmith services for a binding firing pin.

I've owned around 30 - 35 handguns and only two ever had to go back to the manufacturer, sadly both plastic Rugers, an SR9c and an LCR 38. No more Ruger polys for me.
I did send a Taurus PT1911 back, but it was a 5 year old used project gun and I had Taurus rebuild the internals, for the price of shipping. Gotta love a lifetime warranty!
Everything else has been flawless.

Never had what is considered a lemon.
I've had lots that needed to be "slicked up", but thats personal preference.
I've been owning guns 60 years, the first being a 16 gauge mossberg bolt action. It was a Christmas present from my Mom, Noisy, but I still loved it!

Just got my Mini 14 back that did not function correctly new out of the box, would not eject rounds and they repaired Bolt, slide and extractor. Have had other Rugers that weren't right but was able to fix them myself without sending them back.

The only real lemon I had was my very first revolver, A Smith and Wesson, 6in model 19. Five of the six chambers would load, shoot nice groups, and eject well. The sixth chamber always fired eratic and was extremely difficult to load and eject. Took it back to the Gun shop where I bought it to snd to the factory to reborn the cylinder to match the others. S&W had it for 6 months before I got it back. Within a couple of weeks I traded it for a Security Six 4in stainless. I still have it over 25 years. The only other Smith I've had was a .45 in the late 80s. S&Ws are fine revolvers and there can be errors and poor quality control with any firearm, but I probably not buy another Smith revolver.

My LC9 had to go back, the frame was replaced. My SR22 just came back with a slide replaced. This is in the past 4 months.

I am not sure how many firearms I have owned over the years but probably in the 50-75 range and the worst one was an Auto Ordinance 1911 Gov't. You could put a full mag thru that on the best of days. I sent it back to AO and they did some reliability work to it but it still wouldn't function. I had a local smith do a bunch of different work and he got it reliable but only after I doubled up on the price. The only other issues I have had was an Ithaca M37 shotgun that had a mechanical issue and light strikes on a M99 Savage. Considering I bought my first firearm 50 years ago that isn't bad. I have owned 13 Rugers but have not had any issues.
