LCR .22, Stingers, Velocitors

I've seen a few older threads that suggest that the .22 LCR does not operate well with Stingers or Velocitors. Is that true of all LCR .22's or just a few? What seems to be the reason (assuming this is true).

Stingers are just about all I have fired out of my LCR-22 after the initial shootfest, to see what worked well, and what didnt. The only thing I had any problems with was Remington Golden, and it wasnt really a problem, just a little harder to eject the spent cases. Stingers shoot fine in my LCR-22

Does the lite have a target barrel? If it does don't use Stingers in it as the casing on a Stinger is 1/10" longer than a regular LR casing. In the 10/22 manuals it says not to use Stingers in the target barrels and Ruger Tec support says not to use them in the MKIII target models. Ok for the regular barrels and the SR22's.

GM... The question was about the LCR-22, not the LITE. You are correct that Stingers and any other Hyper-V ammo SHOULD NOT be used in the Mark Series pistols, but in revolvers, its fine.

OK in this one...

But not in this one...

Sorry Weblance had a brain F--t saw your avaitar and tought Mk lite. Duh.
ruger saysit's ok to use Stingers in the MK's also long as they don't have target barrels also ok in the SR22's But I'm little leary about the SR22's and the take down lever. I've run some thru my SR22 it's a blast but won't do it to often. here's a copy of what Ruger sent back. I know it doesn't apply to the LCR. ps Lites are sure pretty just don't use gun scrubber on it. it kills the clear coat finish on the Aluminum barrel. Saw that on another post. Just a heads up. don't want kill finish on such a nice gun. Almost bought one for the wife. But fell in love with a MKIII Stainless target. Maybe next one.

Comment / question:

The use of CCI stingers in SR22's and MKIII target pistols. Are they safe to use in these guns and is the use of these recommended by Ruger for ocassional use
Thank you
Great products. The craftmanship on my SR1911 is first class. Beats my kimber.

Response:
You can use the CCI Stingers in your SR22 pistol.

Do Not use CCI Stingers in your Mark III pistol. The MKIII pistol is chambered only for the .22 caliber Long Rifle cartridge, standard velocity or high velocity, manufactured to U.S. Industry Standards. CCI Stingers are hyper-velocity, over 1300 fps.

Thanks for the replies. What do you think causes the hard extraction with some cartridges? Would you consider it to be normal?

I only use hypervelocity .22's in my Beretta 21A. The only ammo that is totally reliable for the functioning of the gun. While I do not shoot a lot of it, it is loaded with it when I carry the Beretta.

I would think that slight variances in the diameter of the cartriges causes this. Ammo that is slightly undersized will expand when firing, causing the cases to stick. This isnt just a condition with the LCR-22 as I have seen it also happen in my Single Ten, and Single Sixes. You probably wont ever notice it in an auto-pistol because there is enough energy to pull and eject a stubborn cartridge.

Ruger told me not to use any type of high or hyper velocity in my SR22. He told me bulk packs such as federal champion or the federal value pack or any other such as Winchester bulk or Remington bulk would be fine. I don't use anything else in my MKIII and probably won't use anything else in my SR22. If I want to shoot high or hyper velocity I'll use my single six just because it's rated for magnums.
