| Strange Problem with new 22 45 Lite
Went to the range today to break in our new 22 45 Lite, which I bought for my wife’s birthday. Prior to this I disassembled, cleaned, and lubed the pistol so it would go boom. Here is what happened.
1) When the bolt is closed and a loaded magazine is inserted, I pulled the bolt back, let go and gun went into battery and fired normally.
2) When bolt is locked back, and a loaded magazine is inserted, I pulled the bolt back to release it, and it stayed in the locked position. I had to press the bolt release button in order to have the gun go into battery. Fired fine. BTW, once we got it sited in (Matchdot ll) it is very accurate.
I disassembled it, lubed the channel where the bolt release mechanism sits and reassembled it. Same problem. Simple fix or a trip back to Ruger? Thanks.

Bstang ... On the 22/45 you must also release the bolt stop as you are pulling back the bolt, or the bolt will not go forward. The following modification can be done to eliminate the issue http://www.guntalk-online.com/2245de...ping.htm#ssmod |

Thats how it is supposed to work. I did the standard slingshot mod (remove check ball & spring) on my Lite and it works great, much easier than pushing the button down. I also removed the mag disconnect, its a much smoother runner now.

| I received my bushing from Sam Lam on Monday and decided to put it in. While I had the Talo(10143) apart, I then decided to also do the slingshot modification. Man was it easy. If I can do it anyone can. I just watched the video that Sam had attached to his email and looked at the 22/45 maintenance page.
After the pistol was back together, I pushed the mag release and out popped the mag. Then I tested the slingshot and it worked.
Now when I get my other 22/45(10110) back from Kingshouse both will be in great shooting order. He is putting grips on my non removable panels, mag disconnect bushing with trigger job, slingshot and oversized extension for the mag release.
I ordered a Majestic Arms extended mag release for my Talo. |
