SR22--was finally able to shoot

Was able to finally get to the range and shoot my SR22. It's a pretty amazing little pistol. The target range was pretty full, so I spent my morning on the plinking range, but I had a blast. I shot about 100 rounds of Blazer. I had two rounds that got jammed between feed ramp and magazine, but I have no reason to believe it's nothing more than the ammo. Had a great time. Next up is zeroing the Crimson Trace (came with the pistol) I haven't searched yet, but I hope there is a magazine available soon that holds more than 10 rounds.

My latest Ruger is also the SR22. Great little pistol and shoots as well as my 22/45.

Just a heads up on lead ammo . . .

Several of us experienced a lot of FTLs with Blazer ammo. We did notice that the Blazer we were using felt a bit sticky to the touch . . . not neutral, and certainly not slippery.

The FTLs (including a lot of 2nd round FTLs) seemed to go away when the pistol was kept lightly oiled as spec'd in the manual, or when the Blazers were no longer sticky lol. I actually run my SR22 a bit wet now, and have had zero FTLs using any ammo from the 400th thru the 1500th round.

One person reported no FTLs when alternating mags of Blazers and (eg) Federal or mini-mags. The copper jacket (or lube from them) seemed to keep the ramp slippery enough to eliminate FTLs, even when the Blazers felt sticky.

Another thing that helped was loading the mags under pressure, ie, not using the mag slide button. That ensured the rounds were set and each rim was in front of the rim below it. This helped eliminate FTLs occurring specifically on the 2nd round of a full mag.

None of this may occur for you . . . but you've got a few tips if it does.

Enjoy the SR22 - and the CT laser - I think you'll find it a fun combo lol. I know I do!

Thanks for the tips. The only reason I bought the Blazer was everything else at the store I stopped at was sold out. I guess everyone else thought the same as you.

Surprisingly, my SR22P runs the best with Remington Goldon bulk. It Fails To Feed with Winchester and Federal bulk, but runs 100% with the RG. Im glad because I have alot of it from the 1990s. Its a fun little pistol that my wife and daughter like to shoot, but my Mark II and III 22/45 are much more accurate.
