I have been considering this option if Ruger doesn't help.

Ruger CS responded and told me gunscrubber would remove the clearcoat and that I should wipe the barrel down with gun oil and that may restore the gloss. I think that means no help coming from Ruger. I really guess I need to shoulder the blame for this one I read on the gunscrubber can that it would remove paint. I just didn't realize the gold was clear coated. I have plans to go to the range tommorrow. I think when I strip it to clean I will apply more gun scrubber to the barrel to even out the finish, scotch brite it and apply a few light coats of satin clear coat. I think if I'm not satisfied with the results I may try Krylon X Metal anodized finish in Blue or have it dura coated. Any of your thoughts/ideas appreciated. Still in the thinking process.

Contacted Ruger about the anodized finish, they told me to apply oil to the gold finish and allow it to stand overnight then wipe it clean. I was very sceptical but the gun looks like new. Who would have thunk it??

AW... Im glad you got your problem figured out. I hope its a permanent fix.

I took my 22/45 LITE to the range today, and ran 500 rounds thru it, and it ran perfectly. Its accurate, and after just a couple clicks on the rear sight, it shoots to point of aim. Unsupported, and with the ammo I had on hand(Winchester bulk) it put all shots on paper, and into a 6" circle, at 25 yards. I have a Mark II Target, so I am familiar with the Ruger auto pistol, but the LITE sure is fun to shoot.

I wonder if Ruger is going to make the Lite in a 5.5 inch version. Then I would more than likely pick one up.

I shot the daylights out of my new "Lite" this weekend. It fed every round without fail. At best guess, I put 500 rounds downrange with it, MiniMags, Blazer, Remington, federal 550 box stuff, everything did great.

The only problem I had was pokeing a few holes in my fat thumb and finger pulling the slide. There are some very sharp corners back there. So when I pulled it apart to clean it, I very lightly rounded the edges with a hard stone. After a little playing with it, I was even more happy. It's a very small issue with a gun in this price range.

I have cranky thumbs from the bolt as well. Ordered the bjtraz racker, should add to the "custom" look of the lite and help myself and the little lady rack it better.
