I have a MK III 22/45 and love it. Problem is I let my son take it to Wyoming with him and who knows when I will ever see it again. I guess this is a good excuse to buy a new one.

Yet another new offering from Ruger! How many is this since the first of just this year?

LOL, I didn't mean it in a bad way. He's in the Air Force and stationed at F.E. Warren. Everytime he comes home he brings my guns back and somehow borrows a new batch. This last time he took my 22/45 and one of my AR's again.

I see "How many Rimfires do you have?" is right below this thread. Looks like some will need to ammend their responses as soon as they can get their hands on this thing with the gold "bling."

I can't say the golden color thrills me, but it doesn't look bad either. If they wanted it to look better they'd put on wood panels to nicely contrast with the black grip frame.

A couple questions:

-If these are replaceable panels, where can I get replacements?

It's a clear improvment over the orginal 22/45 that was way too thin for my comfort, but the grip still needs a tad more thickness to feel right to me. It's supposed to simulate a 1911 and, while 1911s sure aren't thick, they're thicker than any 22/45.

-I'm really curious about these threaded barrels. Do they have any potential use other than to add a suppressor?

I've yet to see anyone in real life who has a suppressor on their gun. Though ranges would be much more peaceful if they did, so I'd be thrilled if everyone would get one. Not that it matters much on a .22 that's not annoyingly loud to start with. Big booming CF pistols is where Ruger really ought to promote the virtues of quiet.

Do any of you have a suppressor? How much did it cost? And you had to give a $200 tribute to the almighty ATF, right? How long did it then take for the ATF to grant a mere mortal like you the great priviledge of hearing protection?

How much does a suppressor weight? I'm guessing all their threaded guns have the shortest barrels as suppressor seem to be pretty long. American Rifleman had a recent article on them as common sense hearing protection -- unlike the ATF view that criminals are going to use them, apparently to make their handgun twice as long and thus hard to conceal! In the article they showed a lady holding her Glock that doubled in size with suppressor added.

The idea interests me as I'd kind of like to keep the hearing I have left.

i believe that all 22/45's with removable panels will fit 1911 panels

Yep. Some panels might need to be slightly modified to fit the controls, etc. But Hogue makes some 22/45 panels specifically that fit with no modifications.

I love the way this little pistol looks. I don't mind the gold at all. And it's essentially just a 22/45 but with a TacSol style aluminum upper. Hmm... If Ruger starts producing these 22/45 Lite pistols, TacSol might better start looking into designing some new products... Not saying this will make a HUGE dent, but if Ruger offers this pistol in various barrel lengths, I'd say it's a much better deal than a $350 22/45 Target plus another $300 for a TacSol barrel. Just sayin'.

Me neither. They will likely offer it in different colors in the future. Apart from the bling factor I think it's a good move.

We have Goodfellow AFB here where I live and they don't have an active runway either.

I can see it in anodized gray (gun metal), red, blue, OD green, etc. If Tactical Solutions can do it, Ruger can, too. Also, there are DIY sources online for anodizing at home using some pretty basic ingredients.

Oh lord... Let the pink Ruger 22/45 Lites come forth!
