Hi lotsip you still need the rail. I just checked Rugers web site no rail included. I also checked the target model which is the one I have and got a rail included with it. No more it doesn't say the rail's included now. It shows it in the picture but doesn't show it on the exploaded view and it only shows 2mags and case included.North country girl and I must of gotten before they stopped. I guess Rugers cutting back.

North country gal will become famous soon enough
Mark III Target models come with the scope base - Target, Hunter and Comp. Fixed sight models do not, but glad to see that Ruger has done the drilling and tapping on the Standard so that you can use a scope base.

Lol, yep still need that rail from ruger.

I dont know if you'll see an accuracy difference from a cheap to expencive red dot on a pistol.. especially when shooting it at short range from a short barrel.

My red dot was kinda pricey. I think it was about 130, but It was a christmas gift or I would have gotten a little cheaper one.

You can even get a Tasco red dot from Walmar for $29.99, I'd bet that it works ok!

If you're really using this gun for an aid to sharpen your pistol shot skills, I'd fore-go the scope all together and get good with iron sights. Thats where real skill is gained.

Or do what I do.. for winter pistol league, I pull the scope off (leaving the rail attached) for summer time I put it back on. Its easily removed with the scope ring clap screws

Just ordered this cheap red dot from amazon........sounds ok for my needs and for this pistol........

Amazon.com: BSA 30mm Red Dot Scope with 5 MOA: Sports & Outdoors

I will certainly practice mostly without the scope........but, wanted a scope just for fun.

Even I'd have to agree with that. I'd yet to find anybody who found a problem with them, other than their price.

Federal bulk works quite well, especially for the cheapest stuff around. I can't specifically recall the last time one of them failed to fire, though it would have to be a few thousand rounds ago.

CCI Blazer bulk packs are cheap and many deem it the best of the bulk crowd. I was so pleased with a trial of it that I bought 11 packs of 525 for $15 each the other day.

I've been to the cheapest ammo place near me a couple times recently, which is Walmart. Haven't seen blazers there either time, but, will be on the lookout next trip. In the meantime, I will use up the rest of the mini mags i bought (400 rounds), then the 400 bulk american eagle copper hp's.

I don't regularly hunt for ammo at Walmart, but I've never seen CCI Blazer there either when I've looked. I've never seen it at Cabela's either. Cabela's seems to specialize in the blue box 525 Federal bulk packs; always having literally tons of it in stock. That's excellent stuff, well worth at least trying to see how it works out in your gun. Also, you can get Federal bulk dirt cheap if you stockpile when a sale like $15.99 a box happens to conincide with a coupon like $30 off $150.

CCI Blazer can be had for a decent price online, though you typically need to buy a whole factory case to not get killed on shipping cost.

I think I am hooked, can't drive by my local Walmart now without buying ammo, haha....(still cheaper for a hobby than golf was) ;p

Today I picked up 3 more boxes of mini mags and a Federal 550 Value Pack....we'll see how my pistol likes those. The box says they are 36 grain, copper plated, 1260fps, hollow points, which should be fine.......and the box was $19.97. The mini mags were their usual price, $6.97 for a box of 100. Dear lord, i must have 1500-2000 rounds stockpiled by now....better get out to the range tomorrow

Cough..cough ah, magazine, cough...

No offense meant but Ruger pistols use magazines, not clips...a common misunderstanding..

Good luck and good shooting....
