| Ruger Warranty
In reading the "warranty clause" in the owner's manual for my SR22 pistol I was unable to tell what Ruger will/won't repair at no cost to the owner. I'm actually more concerned about what they will do for a second owner if I were to sell the pistol to someone else. If one of the known problems showed up after the pistol was sold would they fix it (at no cost) for the new owner? I've about decided i would prefer a Mk III.

Ruger doesn't have a warranty either written or implied. They do however have the best customer service in the industry.

Hi-point, no matter what you think of their quality, has a lifetime of the gun warranty. As long as it's not abuse or misuse it's covered, even if you are the tenth owner. If I do sell my SR-22 I'd like to be able to assure the purchaser that Ruger will repair it for him if it develops any of the problems we've seen reported here and elsewhere on the web.
Don't get me wrong, I like Ruger, I own a 10-22 and a GP100 in addition to my SR-22 pistol.

I bought a used Speed Six (.357) revolver last summer. When I went to the range the gun would lock up and even skip chambers after recoil. I sent it to Ruger with a note specifically stating that I bought it used. They changed all springs and plungers, the cylinder latch and the entire trigger group and sent it back 2nd day air -- all for free! rugher does not like having their guns out there if they don't shoot.
Cordially,
Ash

Cordially,
Ash | Wow they must have just changed right after you sent your pistol because back in Nov I tried to get them to work on a service six of mine and they told me they do not work on those guns anymore because they do not have parts for them. But I do know for a fact that a used Ruger that they still have parts for they will service no matter how many people have owned it.

Just dealt with the Ruger customer service person (Louise) over an issue with the stock on my Front Site Scout Rifle and she was very helpfull.
I will keep you all posted on how they handle the issue and how the stock looks when I get it back.

Cordially,
Ash | That is great to hear. Thanks for responding. I'm going to show my wife a Mk III and a 22/45 and see if she might like them better than the SR22. As long as the purchaser of my SR22 won't be stuck if it has a problem I don't mind selling it. It seems as though the take down lever is getting looser and perhaps could fail.

Waffenmac: I recall calling Ruger before I sent them that old Speed Six -- they told me that they had limited spare parts, but they would do what they could -- if they could. So, even then they were close to out of parts.
I must have cleaned them out of springs and plungers -- and the trigger group they gave me has the best trigger pull imaginable! Honestly, I can't believe how smooth this trigger is.
I was very happy -- after that first day at the range I thought I had bought a $450 paper weight. In fact, I was so happy with Ruger's service -- I bought a new 3" GP100 (and immediately put some old style grips on it with the wood inserts).
Cordially,
Ash
