| Opinions on the MK3 Hunter SS Pistol?
Overall how do you rate the fit, feel & function of the MK3 pistols versus the MK1 & MK2. I am having some failure to feed & failure to eject problems with my MK3 hunter.

If you are having failures to feed and eject, I'd suggest a good cleaning and lube and a change of ammunition. I have a MKIII Hunter and any performance problems are always related to ammo or cleanliness.

You always clean and lub new gun before firing, and that will probably cure the problem. That said you also may have bent lips on the magazines causing FTF, this is not all that uncommon in rim fire magazines but is not likely you have two problems at once.

I have a 22/45 SS Hunter. It is ocassionally particular about the first round and hollowpoints especially, which I think is a 22/45 issue. Very reliable after 1000 rds and when cleaned every 150-200 rounds. I installed the Volquartsen trigger which is the best trigger I've had on a Mark. I shoot bullseye (newbie) and just had my best score - 522. Had a blue Mark II 5" bull barrel, sad that I sold it but it didn't run any better when dirty, it had a decent trigger but it took a lot of shooting to get it that way. Volquartsen makes an "improved" extractor also.

I've been shooting a MKIII Hunter for about 18 months. I've had very, very few feed/fire problems that weren't related to ammo or letting the pistol get very dirty. I did the VQ accurizing upgrade (hammer/sear/trigger) and have been very pleased with the results.

I have a MK III Hunter. Can’t stand the sights. Replaced them with a VQ rear and a square post front. Mine had ejection problems. I swapped the bolt with a MK III512 and the Hunter worked fine and the MK III512 had ejection problems. I just bought a new bolt from the factory and it has worked fine since. I put in a VQ MK II hammer and sear and a Marvel trigger. Weight is identical to the MK III512 at 40 oz.

Thanks for the advice. I am cleaning after every 100 rounds and no more FTF or FTE! Great pistol, very accurate.

Increase the number of rounds between cleaning and see where it starts to fail. Also, look at the amount of lubricant you are using. Quite often if you over oil the bolt, the corruption from rimfire ammo will darn near glue the bolt to the receiver.
