Has anyone noticed on the inside of their takedown lever (the side that faces up inside the frame) a small area in which something is rubbing on the lever assembly? I shot about 650 rounds through mine now (about 1000 total) and have noticed where it appears the recoil spring is rubbing on that plastic piece. I'd snap a pic, but it'd be really hard to see I think.
It looks as if something cylindrical is rubbing on it....hint hint.

If you look around a bit you'll see that this is a potential trouble spot on the now popular SR22. Mine is currently in the hands of Ruger for the same problem, but in my case (as with some others) it actually broke, opened up, and caused the slide to come flying off while shooting. (NOT a good thing) So, hopefully Ruger is working on a fix for what could be a BIG problem for them in the end. :(

Here's a comparison of the SR22 Ruger to P22 Walther:

The Walther P22 also uses a plastic interposing piece for a take down latch - The only real difference being that it is moved straight up to lock in or down for take down as opposed to the Ruger using a pivot down for take down.

Here are a couple of Photo-Bucket slideshows I made up to illustrate the two:
(Just click each link to watch the slide show and then 'X' the photobucket page to return here to click the next one)

First the Ruger SR22P:

Then the Walther P22:

Neither gun uses metal for the take down material!

Hope this helps.
