A SR22 Pistol for the Wife.

This is a discussion on A SR22 Pistol for the Wife. within the Ruger Rimfires forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; Took several attempts, but I finally got a pretty good re-anodizing of the slide. It isn't perfect, but it still looks "pretty" for her. Sorry ...

My wife about tears my head off every time I show her some random pink gun. This one she actually likes because it isn't "girly annoying pink."

Looks nice.

Nice job, I had to send mine back to Ruger, Won't load rounds, like having a single shot. Hope yours works well for you. I really do like this gun though. Can't wait to get it back.

Okay... Normally, I think this stuff is cheesy, but even as a dude, I think that thing looks really awesome! I'd love to see one with an OD green slide or something. Well done!

I just followed the directions on this link....

Anodizing Aluminium at home

Make sure you remove the little pin on the slide stop notch. Otherwise the acid bath will eat the pin away. (Guess you can figure out how I know).

Makes me wonder if I should try re-anodizing my AR to maybe green or tan...hmmmm.

It is a fun little project. Best part is, if you don't like it, just anodize it back to black.

Ditto on the OD Green gun ... I would love one like that. The black looks plenty awesome though. Love my SR22!!

My wife told me if I ever bought her a "sissy" gun, I could carry it, LOL.

She wasn't kidding.

For a pink gun....thats pretty slick man, I like the contrast on it.
Did you polish up the barrel too? atleast on the chamber end. I remember my sr9's coming in grey but it just needed some polishing and it shines up nicely

Love the color.

By the way, that's not girly pink. It's more of a nice magenta, if anyone asks.

Yeah, I polished the barrel completely. I even polished the feed ramp and barrel throat. I shouldn't have any issues with FTF.

The color is actually supposed to be fuchsia (RIT dye). It came out a bit darker than anticipated.

The wife took a better pic and posted it on her face book. Guess she likes it.

Wow that looks great! Gives me a few ideas I like the way the black sights contrast with the color.

EDIT: The engravings on the slide would look good if they were black
