That's how I started out modding my Mark III. The III hammer will still work fine. Some people add a small thin washer to fill in the hammer's inset, but it's not necessary. If you use a washer, you have to be sure the notch on the bottom of the hammer is not obstructed.

Later I upgraded, and got the VQ Mark II accurizing kit with the stainless trigger. It includes a Mark II hammer.

The Mark III kit is only for someone wanting to keep the mag safety, which I can't imagine.

+1

I did the same thing, only I did the VQ internals and bushing all at the same time.

I put a VQ trigger and sear in my Mk 3 added a Sam Lam hammer bushing ($10) to get rid of the mag disconnect & spring, lowered my trigger pull to 2lb 1 oz, with no excess overtravel. It took 11 days during the X-mas holiday for my letter to get to Sam and the bushing to return, great guy to deal with.

The absolute simplest way, and to do absolutely no other modifications except the bushing, is to use a Sam's bushing that is designed for the MKIII hammer.
