Crimson Trace 1911 grips on the 22/45

I've spent hours searching far and wide on the internet to get any kind of legitimate answer on this. Will they fit? Which model do I go after? My 1911 knowledge is limited and there are several different variations in the 1911. Can anybody tell me off hand exactly which model 1911 grips are compatible with the 22/45? (for example: government, 1911A1, etc.) I realize that there will be a slight bit of modification required on the left side to accommodate the bolt stop however, but this doesn't bother me.

I'm pretty dead set on making this happen as I have the Volqaurtsen LLV and really want to maintain the look of no sights or junk hanging off the gun, just a personal preference. Here is a pic:

When I went to pick up my 22/45, the LGS owner assured me the govt model 1911 CT grips would work on it.

Probably a real good idea to see if a shop in your area has them in stock and ask them if you can bring in your 22/45 or use one of their 22/45s in the shop to check the fit.

This graphic from VZ Grips should help. You simply want a "full-size" grip, and depending on where you want to trim (or not), get a standard, magwell, or bobtail.

Goverment model, I have the RP model , loved the look of the wood grips but way to thin for me . I never shot the gun , literaly I have had it since those RP's came out shot it once put it away . I put the hogue Goverment wrap arounds on and wow what a difference . They fit perfect just had to trim a tiny bit around the slide release , maybe a 1/8 " . Screws worked perfect to , never thought 16 bucks could be so well spent .

I would suggest contacting Crimson Trace. They should be able to tell you definitively.

Crimsom Trace on the Mark III 22/45

Well after my forth call to Crimson Trace hoping for a grip for my 22/45 mark III, which they said nothing is in the works at this time, I contacted Ruger about my 22/45 and I found that the frame size and design is exact to the Colt 1911A1, so I bought a full size Crimson Trace 401 laser. I found that the laser is just like all the other products they make, excellent. Ruger said any 1911A1 grip will fit as long as your Mark III is an RP model (replacement panels), mine is. When the laser arrived I could not wait to try it. Just two things had to be done to make the laser fit. I had to take a drywall knife and slightly scrape a little more than 1/16" off the grip around the bolt release lever. That was all that had to be done for the grip to fit perfectly. Crimsom Trace also has two plastic panels that fit between the frame and the grip to insulate the battery from the frame, but since the frame is a polymer build I did not think it was necessary, but I installed them anyway. Again I had to trim the one plastic panel with a pair of scissors and that was it. After I wrapped the grips around the frame it fit snug. The screws are a little short but they do work and that was it. The pistol IMHO feels better with the new grips then it did with factory one's. I took it out and sighted it in and had a blast the rest of the day (no pun intended). Here are some pictures.
Hope this helps

Your pictures don't seem to be working unfortunately, but that's good that you were able to get it on there.
