Bud's sale

Bud's has a Ruger 22/45 mark III for sale; Ruger 22/45 Mark III 22LR 5

I was at a gun show yesterday, saw another regular mark III (I think) for about this price, maybe a couple of bucks less. Today I'm kinda wishing I had adopted it and brought it home, but I didn't go with the mindset of buying anything. It would be nice to have a good 22 plinker since my old H&R revolver is not real easy to load/reload, and is not very accurate.

Both of my two older kids have expressed interest in guns, and I have actually taken #1 daughter to the range a couple of times. I hadn't really planned on going to this show except that my son (kid #2) wanted to go. And if I knew where we could go to do some real plinking (as opposed to shooting holes in paper) I would have gotten this thing just to have something to take out on father/daughter/son bonding adventures.

This is kind of tempting, though for some reason I like the regular mark III's greater sweep on the grip better than the 22/45. Don't know why, I guess just the Luger image thing.

Anybody have any input as to which version is better?

I have both. Bought the all steel version just because I'm old fashioned and think guns should be steel. A consideration might be weight. The 22/45 is quite a bit lighter. Don't know how old or strong your kids are but light might be right. Both models shoot great. Charlie

I like the regular MKIII Target 6 7/8" best, but it seems really high up above your hand web. It's a little awkward.

^this^

i have a MKII. it's stainless, non 22/45, long slab side barrel. i also have a MKIII 22/45 with a 4.5" factory threaded barrel. they both shoot great, they're both all round awesome pistols. i'm sellin the MKII, simply because the 22/45 (in this config) better suites my specific needs.

ya can't go wrong with either one
