Ruger MK II one-piece vs. three-piece mainspring housing?
Does anyone know when Ruger went from the three-piece to the one-piece mainspring housings (and, when they switched back to three-piece housings?) Any serial number ranges? I recently acquired a late 2000 production Competition Target Model (224-prefix) and it came with a one-piece mainspring housing; yet I have several other MK IIs that were produced slightly earlier, and slightly later, and they have the three-piece housings. I'd love to have someone with some real depth of knowledge on this share what they know. I know that sometime in the early '90s, Ruger told Chad Hiddleson that they were going to switch-over to all one-piece cast housings...but it is obvious that they abandoned one-piece housings at some point. Any information on this? Thanks,
