Trigger Pull on Ruger BX Trigger Group

I set up my Tacsol X-Ring in a vise and used a Wheeler trigger pull scale to measure the trigger pull force. The rifle has the Ruger BX trigger group. The gage measures in 1/8 lb increments. I measured 5 pulls (with expended case in chamber). I had 2 pulls at 2 and 5/8 lb, 2 pulls at 2 and 3/8 lb, and one at 2 and 1/2 lb, for an average of 2 and 1/2 lb. I was careful to pull all 5 at the same slow rate and in the direction, etc, with each pull. I was surprised at the 1/4 lb min to max variation. Is that typical? Is the gage that crude? Or is the guy pulling that crude?

3 oz? It's probably in the consistency of the pull. Even a small variation in angle can mean a lot. I got the same trigger, but was unhappy with the take up/creep. Got a Timney trigger and while it's about the same tension to fire, there's absolutely no creep.

You would likely get a much better response if this question were posted in the Ruger rifle thread instead of the Ruger rimfire pistol thread.
