mark 3 hunter problem

I messed up ruger hunter mark 3 while cleaning I have a brand new mark 3 and field stripped it tonight and I see why people say it is a pain. I got it all apart easy and cleaned up. When i tried to put it back together I had very hard time getting main spring lever in back strap w and cleaned up. When i tried to put it back together I had very hard time getting main spring lever in back strap w right. It got stuck and I fought to get it out. When i finalaly did I noticed that I some how bent the pivot arm on right. It got stuck and I fought to get it out. When i finalaly did I noticed that I some how bent the pivot arm on hammer a little. I think that's what its called. I tried to straight it out and got it pretty good. After several attempts finally got it assembled the right way. I think I may have messed something up though. The bolt release wont wor right have to push bolt forward a Tad to get it to work or manually slap it closed. Other than that it seems to function properly. What couldi have messed up.

Wow that post is hard to read. Could you maybe write it so we can understand what the problem is a little more clearly?

pitmanr2003,

It sounds like you bent the main spring housing? I'm not sure what you could have messed up, but my recommendation is to get with Ruger. Give them a call, explain what happened, and they'll help you out.

Do you have a gunsmith to take it too? First time I took mine apart I ended up bringing back to the store in a box, in pieces. LOL They showed me how to put it back together.

the only thing that seems to be bent is the little pivot on the hammer. I believe I may have bent it trying to put it back together. I straigtened it the best I could and it is pretty straight. It goes back together and functions perfectly, but the slide release doesnt release slide when locked back. I have to push on back of the bolt and it goes forward. most of the time when you pull the bolt back the slide release doesnt even stay up win locked back.

OK

You bent something..thus it no longer works properly...nor will it function properly/safely till you repair (not just bending it pretty good ) Contact Ruger and tell them what you buggered.. Good luck
