Hey everyone, I'm doing a bowling pin tonight with my mark iii hunter. Anyone ever do one before? Tips, suggestions, etc? I think its 3 pins at 20 feet with 5 shots. |

Wil a .22 actually knock off a bowling pin?

Yes, .22's work just fine. Tips: 1) When you first get there, ask the range master for safety procedures for the shoot. 2) Relax 3) Don't rush when the buzzer goes off. Aim, pause, fire. LOOK at the next pin, then move the sights to it, aim, pause, fire. Don't rush. Look at the pin before you move your arms to take aim. Don't try to do both at the same time or you'll swing your arms past it. Watch your front sight. You can't see a miss so you won't know how to compensate. 4) Have fun 5) Stay safe. I would be a little worried about the bullets not penetrating the rounded surface and bouncing at all angles off of the pins. I guess the range has probably taken that into account with their setup though. Good luck and have fun. |

Sounds like fun. Hope you had a good time. Was that with the OSU pistol club? I would like to do that sometime.

hey guys, yes it was with the OSU pistol club. they had 3 tables set up, one shooter at a time. this was my first time doing the pin shoot and lets just say bowling pins have nothing to fear from me ![]() overall it was a lot of fun. i just got nervous standing on the line with like 30 people watching me shoot pins for first time. hopefully next time i'll have a better showing. using the stock sights is rough for me when i have acquire targets fast. i'm left handed but right eye dominate, so the angle of my shots seem to always go left of where i want it. i'm starting to to train with the right hand to keep everything in line. but thanks for the tips! |

I run a pin shoot here we shoot rim & Center fire pistols. We have 5 pins to shoot as fast as you can with 6 rounds (makes it fair for revolvers) and as many reloads of 6 rounds you can do in 15 seconds, after that time is up if pins are left standing you add 1 second for each standing to the score.Do with 4 sets of pins strike out the slowest time & the average of the remaining 3 is your score. Lots of fun nothing beats seeing things fall over when you hit them. |
