Congrats on your new pistol!

I was all set to buy a new S&W Victory but I'm glad I didn't make it a priority because the MK IV has completely changed my mind. I've owned Ruger Mk II's in the past but absolutely hated the reassembly drill. So much so I swore I'd never own another. The Mk IV has changed that. I will be buying a new Mk IV in the near future.

I see that the part numbers are different between the MKIII and the MKIV grips which suggests that the grip frames are not the same dimensions or is it just the safeties? Did you do any comparisons?

Hey Bozwell,

PM me if you want those Ruger MK IV wood grips. I thought about keeping them for the originality factor but I will be using the new Target grips and no sense those great looking grips sit n a box...

Grips are different between III and IV . . . According to Volquartsen the only common parts are the BOLT, BOLT SPRING, and scope rails. I have Volquartsen Match Bolts in both my "RUGERS" formerly MKII and MKIII.

Volquartsen has informed me they will be releasing a MK IV TRIGGER UPGRADE "VERY SOON".. Ruger triggers are not bad but the VQ match triggers are adjustable and have a much crispier feel.

By the way in case ya'll were not aware you can remove the left safety if you prefer. The MK IV comes with a spacer and instructions to put on the end of the side you remove so that it is not ambidextrous if you prefer..

Those grips look really nice on your MKlV. I was lucky to find one today at my LGS. I guess I will have to wait on the target grips their out of stock.

Kona26 will become famous soon enough
Went to my LGS with cash in hand to buy the Mk IV. Instead, walked out with a Browning Buck Mark URX. Just felt better in my hand.

I had been admiring the Mk IV Hunter at my LGS, and on Saturday my wife surprised me with one! No special occasion, just a special wife. The only local outdoor range is only open Wednesday through Saturday, and I hate indoor ranges, so tomorrow I get to take it out to play. It's almost too pretty to shoot. Key word: "almost".
