ok ok...

so i'm mechanically a bit of a moron sometimes....

what needs to happen is to find something small (round toothpick with a blunt end on it) and gently push the spring in while you easily drop the new blade in.

lesson i've learned: play with it for a while before posting and making myself look even dumber than i am!

Hey Tater you wouldn't happen to want to part with that v-notch would you?

If you do some searching on Midway, they have various ruger oem blades for a little over $2. I would guess they would be pretty interchangeable between the ruger models?

Bullseye - Thanks for the link! I was planning on filling in the U channel with some paint in my rear sight blade and this was the first thread that appeared in my search!

Tater, just to let you know, I used a rear sight blade off of my Super Blackhawk on my MK III. It's a square notch with white outline and it works just fine. The front sight sets real nice in the rear notch.

You're right in the fact that it's a little hard to get in until you do it a couple of times and learn the tricks.

Old post but...

found this post on a search before attempting to make the sight switch. Just wanted to say thanks to the posters for the tips and the link as they made it far easier (and quicker) than if i just started taking things apart.
