I got one 15 years ago and have shot literally thousands of rounds through it. Still shoots great today. My go to .22LR pistol and THE pistol I'd want if I HAD to make a shot. I can reliably knock down coke cans at 60yards. Cannot say enough good about them. Mine has the target barrel also. Awesome piece! Congrats!

Enjoy! My second gun was a Mk II 22/45 stainless with bull barrel (KP512), which I bought over 20 years ago. Still shoots very well after about 3,000 rounds.

A stainless Mark II Target for $265 is a steal. I would consider that $200 less than current value.

The general consensus is the gun will last literally hundreds of thousands of rounds. This is based on pistols that are range rentals. The Mark pistols are very well built, and generally last almost forever. There are stories of Mark pistols with round counts of 500,000. If the barrel hasnt been damaged by over zealous cleaning, I wouldnt worry that your new pistol is ready to break. In fact, its probably not even broken in yet.

FWIW, both the Government Target models and the Competition Target models came with 6 7/8" barrels. If yours does measure 6.5" it has been modified or the barrel replaced.

Good luck there, still hard to find in this part of the country. Glad it worked out for you.

I don't know anyone who has worn out a Ruger Mark barrel. Unless it was abused I don't think it can be done. I have shot the heck out my 1983 Mark II Bull Barrel and it still shoots like the day I bought it in 1983. I did have the trigger modified to a 2 1/2 pull but nothing else has needed replaced, still has the factory firing pin.

Ruger Marks are so tough it cannot hardly be overstated.

I bought a Mark I used. Some of the innards were worn out (not the barrel). Got it on consignment (deceased owner) and it probably had not been fired for years. I sent it off to Ruger and for no charge they replaced a bunch of parts and shipped it back to me. (They indicated that if it happened again for this gun they would charge me about $80. Guess that applies to my grandkids, grin.)

These guns will last forever if properly maintained, and often even if not properly maintained.
