Congrats. Nice guns, the Mark II heavy barrels.

You'll have to order mags as the Mark III mags sold in stores these days won't fit a Mark II. Ruger's part # for those is 90046.

I've bought them from Bud's Gun Shop, where price was best (when in stock): http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...zine+10RD+22LR but you can find them many places online.

See ShopRuger for other parts and accessories: http://shopruger.com/Mark-II/departments/1160/

Most people regard the Mark II series as the best there were. The Mark III pistols are good, but have things to make them safer when used by someone who doesnt exercise proper, and safe gun handling. The Mark III has a magazine disconnect, and a Loaded Chamber Indicator, both of which, the Mark II doesnt have. The magazine disconnect affects the trigger pull, and the LCI can affect the reliability

Magazines dont interchange between the Mark II and the Mark III. Mark III magazines MAY work in a Mark II, but the reverse is not true. Its best to buy Mark II magazines. Mec-Gar makes an excellent magazine for the Mark II, and they are less expensive than the Ruger branded magazines. Mec-Gar makes the original magazines for many Ruger pistols, and very possibly made the original Mark II magazines that shipped with the guns when they were new.

Dont shoot Hyper-Velocity ammo through your Mark II. It was designed for High Velocity ammo only. No Stingers, or YellowJackets. They can produce excessive wear, and shorten the life of your pistol.

I have a MK 2, 22/45 stainless, target model, with a 5.5" heavy barrel that I absolutely love.
It is so accurate and smooth, I wish I was as accurate with my 9mms.
Enjoy your new friend.
