LC9 Extended Magazine Issue

Purchased a Ruger factory 9 round extended mag for my LC9 and found in general manipulation it won't lock the slide back. Shot it fully loaded today and it runs fine and locked back. I'm not really worried about the locking back issue since this is a back up mag. My regular 7 rounder will have to be spent for the 9 rounder to be in the pistol. If I shoot the 9 rounder's dry that means my aim sucks or I'm outnumbered and it's time to go to the knife. Anyone else having problems with this magazine?

I haven't noticed any problems yet. Except for it being not the prettiest extended mag. Works as advertised.

I've seen two other threads about the nine round magazine not locking back.

Both times, they contacted Ruger and a new magazine worked.

Try contacting Ruger.

By the way; if 16 (or 17) rounds aren't enough, I hope you have a BIG knife.

Well it's sharp. Like you said, if those 17 rounds aren't enough...well I'm not going out without one hell of a fight!

Got around to calling Ruger today and the nice lady is dropping a new mag in the mail with a return envelope for the defective one. That's what I call customer service! Wish it was that easy with my Springfield XDs. But that's another story...

Well I received the new 9rounder from Ruger...and it doesn't lock the slide back either. After close inspection of the mag followers I noticed the 7 round follower has a rounded tip; the 9round follower has a sharply angled tip. So I took the mags apart and swapped followers. The 9 round follower is also longer than the 7 rounder. With the 7 round follower in the 9 round mag it would lock back intermittently. I disassembled it and stretched the spring slightly and it worked. But I also noticed there is a little play with the 9 rounders when inserted into the mag well. Pushing up on the mag causes 100% slide lock. Guess it could be the mag catch at fault also.
I called Ruger and related this all to them and they want me to send it in. So I guess when I get my Springfield XDs back the LC9 will take a trip to Arizona. Folks at Ruger are always so nice.
