SR45 still broke.....

After new SR45 broke on first magazine fired through it, mag release came out of frame....shipped to Ruger, got back 2 weeks later....had a chance to fire it today, first magazine went well, all rounds cycled and fired, slide locked to rear.....next magazine all rounds cycled and fired, slide did not lock to rear...fired about 30 more rounds and regardless of how many rounds in magazine it would not lock to rear when last shot was fired.....put an empty mag in pistol pulled back slide and it would not lock open....there was not an audible click or feel when locking mag in pistol everytime, it would lock so you could not pull mag out, but the feel of it locking was not always there....mag release worked fine......back to Ruger again....this pistol is done for sure when it comes back.....had enough....

Did you try multiple mags?

Just got off phone with Ruger and boxed up pistol to send back....according to Ruger they test fired both mags when they fixed it first time ? and yes pistol malfunctions with both mags that came with pistol.....frustrating to say the least....pistol did same thing with a different shooter also....will drop at UPS later today and see if they can fix it the second go around....person I spoke to admitted they were have SR45 issues, at least they admit it....for what's it worth....

Funny, I posted a similar thread earlier. My SR45 that just came back after becoming a jam-o-matic after 5-600 rounds is now exhibiting the magazine mystery lock. It just came back from Prescott! I have 4 SR45 magazines so it's not a magazine issue. Fact-back in March, Ruger replaced one of my magazines because the follower was screwed up. I don't want to have to guess whether the magazine is locked in place or is going to fall out. So, yeah, I'm feeling the same way at this point. It had an audible click/lock sound for a six months. What now? When it's returned from Prescott I'll sell it with the knowledge the next owner has a repaired gun. Pity, the gun is a great gun as far as design and performance. It can't compare to my SR9 in accuracy and reliability. I'll never buy a gun immediately after being released again (got my SR45 on Feb.4th). Even the LCP and SR9 had problems with the initial models and corrections and recalls followed. I'll fall back on the SR9 and try the SR45 when they get it right. Pity though, I loved the SR45 for 500 rounds or so.

Wow... I have a SR-45 on order. They told me 2 to 8 weeks. Saturday will be 9 weeks. Maybe that's why Ruger is not shipping...

Sent my SR45 back to Ruger 4 weeks and 2 days ago and haven't got it back yet. The slide lock was broke and it would not hold slide back after last round, the tab on slide lock that the mag follower pushes up had broke off. hope to get it back soon.

I was flirting with the idea of selling one of my non-Ruger guns to finance an SR45 after having shot a range rental. Went back in over the weekend and it had been shipped back to Ruger to get fixed...slide lock, light strikes and FTF issues. It had just over 600 rds through it.
Ruger has had a history of issues with new models in their semi-auto pistol genre going all the way back to the P85 when it became the MKII after having firing pin issues.

That's it really. The SR9 had the mag O-shaped to D-shaped mag release/trigger repair issue with the first line of production. The LCP had the drop/bang issue with the "diamond" hammer repair on the initial models. Won't discuss the LC9 issues as I sold mine within 2 weeks of buying it. The SR45 will be adjusted in time. Those of us who purchased 1st generation models will either keep sending them to Prescott or, like me, consignment sell their clunkers. My friend bought an SR45 when I bought mine. Although he's been drifting and swearing adjusting the sights since February trying to dial it in @50 feet, he hasn't had any mechanical problems with his-yet. He has the typical cheesy mag lock-up mechanism like every SR45 I've handled at the gun stores. My problems didn't show up until after 500-600 rounds. After the SR9 (I couldn't guess how many trouble free rounds, but it's substantial), the SR45 has been a disappointment. Familiar thread SR45: Light strikes, Failure to go into battery, broken magazine locks, broken slide locks, inability to function properly with all 10 rounds in the magazine, way too the left or right sights in the dovetail notches...

Sounds like Ruger rushed the release of the SR45.

Oh no. I have an SR45 sitting in a box ready to go to the range. I'm almost afraid to take it out and play with it. Maybe I should sell it and avoid the (potential) headaches.

Every gun dealer has different ways of ordering guns. Yes, they can order them from the factory but usually they go through these middlemen warehouses. When they use the middleman, you usually get your order faster. But if they order from the factory, the wait is often longer.

At least that's been my experience.
