This is a discussion on Question about my Ruger P89 within the Ruger Pistols forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; i recently bought a used Ruger P89 9mm, and i was doing some research on them, and i saw some places saying there had been ...
If your gun (P85...)was one of them recalled and it was sent back, the safety will have a "MK II" stamped in the part on the outside.....after this recall all the guns were marked "Mark II" somewhere, that is the main difference, if there is NO marking on YOUR gun, then by all means call the factory and they will tell you what to do.............
i recently bought a used Ruger P89 9mm, and i was doing some research on them, and i saw some places saying there had been a recall on the older models.
i was wondering if there was anyway to find out if my gun was a recalled one, and if so has the recall work been done to it.
i checked the Ruger website, for serial number history, and either i was blind, or it was not listed.
if anyone can help, my serial number is 311-98627
The P85 was the only 'P' series recall and it was limited to S/N prefixes 300-, 301-, and some 302- guns. None of the P85MkII or P89 pistols were ever involved. The recall occurred in 1990/1991. As your gun wasn't made until 1997, you aren't even close. Shoot away and enjoy it!
