SR45 and +P ammo

Hope to pick up my SR45 tomorrow and am wondering about a healthy diet for my new baby.

We all know that it's "slim pickin's" out there but I ran across some 45acp +P and am wondering if that's OK in the SR45. My new model Blackhawk will shoot anything because it's an animal. How 'bout the SR ??

I would think it's fine to do that. Sometimes new guns, since they're not "broken in", will have a tendency to FTE with some of the heavier loads. In my experience it's not a specific brand but new hand guns in general.

The manual will advise IF +P is a problem...otherwise it's fine in most modern firearms.

Ah, just what DOES the manual say about +P ammo? Anything?

The SR9C manual in a very roundabout legal speak type of way says +P is fine. I would think you could find the SR45 manual on the Ruger website to double check that one.

The SR45TM pistol is compatible with all factory ammunition of the correct caliber
loaded to U.S. Industry Standards, including high-velocity, hollow-point and
+P loads, loaded in brass, aluminum, or steel cartridge cases. No .45 Auto ammunition
manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards is
known to be beyond the design limits or known not to function in these pistols.

Put 25 rounds of +P through my SR45 with no issues. Still chugging with one failure to go into battery early on with one round of Blazer after 450+ rounds. I'm liking this pistol.

Most modern polymer pistols actually run & eject better with hotter loads in them up to a point. I don't run +P+ in anything.
