SR1911 pricing

I was at a gun show this yesterday and actually seen two dealers had a SR1911 but the reason they still had them on their tables is one was asking $850 and other was asking $899. I have been wanting this gun since they came out but every dealer wants list or more for them in my state. The best thing seen at the show was the new Smith & Wesson SW1911 PC with the ported slide very nice 1911 except the price.
One other thing is Ruger having a shortage on guns? Wondering since thinking of getting a SR40 but seem like they went up in price by 40-60 dollars since last show went to last month.

Yep, same for magazines and ammunition of all kinds. As supply dwindles and demand spikes so do prices. Been happening for several months now and will likely continue for several months more to one degree or another.

As to the disparity between prices, drive around your town and look at gasoline prices and you'll find the same thing. The same is true for hard drives, reloading components and other items. Different vendors charge different prices for the exact same items for various reasons. Hence the old saying, "Shop around".

It just caught me off guard at this show since I have been really buying guns since last November and this show was the biggest jump in prices of the Ruger guns. Heck 2 weeks ago just bought a new SR22P and now all dealers even the one I bought it from went up $30 in two weeks. Heck right now guns seem to be a better inventment then gold, well maybe not. So I believe they have finally done it and pushed me out of buying guns til maybe the end of the year.

SR1911 pricing

Last one I saw at a major retailer was $699. That was two weeks ago. They had 9 of them.

850 is way too high.

Yes, Ruger has a shortage of guns, though their production is most likely at an all time high. The SR1911 has been hard to get since it was released.

We live in a free market society and prices are based on demand. While some dealers have sold them for as low as $650, I've seen them marked as high as $1,400! Personally, I think the SR1911 is worth being in the $1,000 range when compared to the competition. It's the best deal out there for a quality 1911.

I haven't seen one below $850. If I had access to those $699 guns, I'd buy a few of them!

During the late summer early fall of 2012 I saw them as low $600.00 locally.

Mine was a bit more, around $650.00 otd. Part of the reason one wants a Ruger is the quality to price ratio. Once I near the $1000.00 area, I'm looking at something else.

History tells me Ruger's go up when discontinued, not first introduced.

Kygunco.com had them for 759 a few weeks ago but gone now. The sub-800 deals are out there if you keep an eye out!

I was at a gun show yesterday too and also found two dealers w/SR1911s. One was priced at $795 and the other had a Commander at $750 and a full size at $699.
Being a little short on gun funds, I had bought a .357 Blackhawk two weeks ago, I had to pass.

Agreed. If I get to $1K, I'm probably going for a Kimber or similar.

See, they don't need masks at gun shows; the victims willingly come up, asking to be robbed...
