The best deal you'll find will only be about $50 less. And the value of what you get in an SR1911 is more than MSRP. Do you really want $50 to stand between you and owning one of them?

That's a question only you can answer. I bought mine in June of 2011. I paid $750 for it. No regrets whatsoever!

I actually found one today for $699. I'll probably get it if I can justify the finances - I had the money allocated but ended up buying a 22 rifle last week while on vacation, which used up about half the money budgeted for the SR1911.

I don't think you can get the 460 Rowland conversion without the compensator. I looked at the conversion process a few months ago and that's what I read on their site.

Quote from Clark Custom Guns:

Q: Can I buy a .460 Rowland Conversion kit without a compensator from you?
A: No

I think it would look better without the compensator, but it's apparently needed.

I did the paperwork to buy a SR1911 the other day and was hoping to have it by the weekend but it looks like early next week instead (with the holiday and all of that). I'm hoping they call me early on Tuesday so I can take it out that day to shoot, but either way its just a waiting game at this point.

Congrats! They're definitely worth the wait.
