Stilll waiting...
I have one on order since July at my LGS and my patience is wearing thin. How have you all waited? I have heard as long as 18 months. I have also read on here that some have walked in to find one on the self. I have been giving my LGS a monthly visit to ask if Ruger has given an order status, but the answer is always the same...Nothing yet.
I placed an order for the SR22 at the time as the SR1911 and recieved it about a month later. I have been shooting it an loving it. Wish I had a SR1911 to go along with it.

I got on the waiting list at my LGS and got the SR1911 about 6 weeks later. I guess I was in between walking right in and seeing one and having to wait a long time.

I'm from central Ohio and have seen them a few places I got mine at gander mont. a while back and it was the last one they got. I was at black wing in Delaware and they had like three or four. I was thinking of picking up another but I'm holding out for a different style. Like black slide or engraved slide.heres there number (740) 363-7555. Give them a call it might be worth the drive. Good luck and let me know what you fine

I ordered mine from my LGS last May, last September I was feeling very much like you are now. So I looked into "on-line purchasing" to help myself. I had my LGS's nod as he encouraged me to give a try because he and his distributor had no idea when my SR1911 would come in.
I found an on-line resource, "The Sportsman's Outdoor Warehouse", that had them and the asking price was $699. Long story short... I bought the SR1911 on a Thursday night and I picked it up at my LGS's the following Tuesday. I paid my LGS $30 fee for using his FFL.
Dealing with the "TSOW" was an absolute joy. It was my first on-line purchase experience and they made it a terrrific one. I highly recommend them. As of today I have put 1200 rounds down range with mine without a hic-cup! This really is a terrific firearm!
Good luck with getting yours!

I ordered two of them from two different gun shops ( one from each ) , that was back in July of 2011. Neither one of those two had come through for me as of Oct. 2012. So I called the Buffalo Gun Center on Oct. 11th, 2012 and on Oct. 13th, my gun was there. When I went to go pay for my gun I had explained how I placed an order for the SR1911 at two different shops and neither could get one. And how was it that they got their hands on one for me virtually overnight? The guy there told me it was because they are such a high volume dealer, that their distributors give them preference over the smaller dealers. He went on to tell me that on average, they can get a SR1911 in their shop at a rate of one per week if need be. So these guns are out there to be had, I guess you just have to go to the right place...by the way, do yourself a favor and hold out for the Ruger, you won't be disappointed! Good luck!!

I had that random luck that other people hate. I walked into a random gun store one day and bam 5 minute background check and I was out the door. I did not even know the sr1911 was hard to find until I got online and read everything.

I heard last January (2012) that fourteen were coming to Australia in the initial order.
By the time I placed an order, I was # 8 on the list.
I picked it up in February and was pleased to find that it was a 2011 model.

I guess patients is a virtue...
Thanks for all the suggestions and I think its about time to do some shopping. I just wish my LGS would get it for me bc they quoted me an awsome price.
I wonder who is dropping the ball...the Ruger rep or the LGS? Do Ruger reps specialize in different accounts (Cabelas, Bass Pro... high volume) and then small LGS or are they regional (covering all dealers in a region)?

Not sure if you have a Cabelas or Bass Pro close by, if so give them a try, supposedly they get the largest percentage of all gun manufacturers firearms, the rest gets sent to our local shops.
