I was able to shoot one today and even tough I am not a very experienced shooter, I was impressed. It's on my list for sure.

Beautiful pistols. Ruger has done a great job with their 1911. Mine came out of the (Classic Cardboard) box a real shooter.
I'm glad to see the classic series 70 configuration. I have zero issues with the standard guide rod system either. Makes for easy field stripping. I put the ole classic Pachammer Presentation grips on mine. I was quite surprised at the barn door slide recoil spring mine was shipped with, but if functioned with it. Just more difficult to work the slide than I like.
I installed the standard 16lb recoil spring combined with a Wilson buffer. While I had it down I installed an 18lb mainspring and a Cylinder & Slide trigger grip safety reduced weight return spring too. My trigger breaks nicely at just over 3lbs now. I'll likely install a slightly longer Wilson slide stop, same as I have on my other 1911's and be done. Mine is more accurate than this ole boy can shoot it. I can't say enough good about this pistol. At its price point, it has no peers!
These are the same components I run in my other 1911's. Very inexpensive upgrades in the feel of this fine example of a 1911!
Congratulations on your SR 1911. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine.

Love the grips you chose. I went with the bonded ivory grips from Ruger. One fine 1911.

I don't plan on carrying a 1911, but you can't deny they are the most gorgeous of semi-autos, period.
Happy 1911ing!
