First experience with Ruger Cust. Service today.

I purchased a SR9 nib last Oct. Since I purchased the gun had been working excellent with one exception. On occasion I have one magazine that does not seem to work 100%. But sat I went to the range and my problem repeated itself every magazine change. When the slide is locked back and I insert magazine the slide lock releases the slide. Also when firing and there is only one round sometimes two rounds left the magazine will come out as though I pushed the magazine release.I marked this one magazine months ago and been keeping an eye on it. At first I thought I must be hitting the mag release with my thumb. But sat I made sure I was not hitting mag release button. And four times in a row it came out of the magazine port. It did not fall out all the way just enough so I could not fire the gun. Like I said earlier it always happens with the same magazine. Both magazines are 17 round hc mags. I called Ruger customer service this morning and the lady I spoke with could not have been nicer. I explained my situation and initially she wanted the gun sent in to be inspected and set up an acct for me. But before I send it in she is sending me a brand new magazine and return label to send the old one back. She said to try the new magazine and if problem still exist, they would like to look at the gun. And I can use the acct number that was set up to make process quicker. I was totally satisfied with my experience today and I actually felt like I was a valuable customer. I will continue to buy and reccomend Ruger firearms. And I am going to buy a 10/22 this weekend. I am proud to say I own Ruger firearms.

Doesn't surprise me. I've heard nothing but good things about Ruger customer service. Good luck with the issue.

I can vouch for them as well. I pretty much did the same thing you did. Had an issue with my SR9 and then went to buy a 10/22.

Ruger CS always goes above and beyond what anyone would expect. They are sometimes a bit swamped and behind time-wise, but you can be sure of being happy with the outcome.

I called Ruger CS this morning. All I got was instructions to leave a recorded message. I did so and have not heard back yet. That was 2 1/2 hours ago.

So far I'm unimpressed. Hope that changes.

I am glad you are happy with customer service. I have a question, what is a
("Both magazines are 17 round hc mags.") hc mag?

Gpa09, I like the Cutterman's pin as your profile pic! Are you Coast Guard or former Coast Guard?

EDIT: Duh! Just saw the Coast Guard icon below your signature. Noticed your from MD. You stationed at the Yard? I'm retired CG myself.

Ruger has the best customer service. Have sr556 and sent in over minor issues. They said take my tritium sights off and any non ruger part and using their shipping label I sent it to NH.10 dAys later it was back they put new sights, fixed feedramps , whatit doesn't say is the new lightweight Troy quad rail they put on I guess cause I inquired about c and cla models.chk out photos in photo section. The today ups shows up and ruger sent me two extra mags. Classy.if you call ruger it can take awhile but their cs agents and techs are the best

Ruger refers to the 17 round mag as high capacity sorry bout that should have spelled out.

Can't decide if I want the takedown or not. I love anything that comes with a bag. But dont know why I would need to break the gun down. Do you have the breakdown?

i have both the take down and the regular carbine. i love the 'portability' of the takedown-- it's come with a decent bag (and i bought another shoulder strap thru ruger so i could where it like a backpack), BUT i feel my standard carbine is a more accurate and reliable shooter. of course, it was also the first purchase in my firearms family so i may have extra fond feelings for it, but i do really think it shoots a little better. i guess if i was all prepper/shtf guy i'd like the takedown for being able to bug out and throw a bunch of ammo in the bag on the way out the door, but for normal usage, i slightly prefer my regular carbine.
