| Jamming SR9
Hey everyone I figured I would post to see what u guys think. Anyway I have the full size SR9 and it has begun jamming quite consistantly with a couple different kinds of ammo. What happens is when a round is fired the empty case stays in the barrel and the next round gets jammed into the back of it. Then I have to pull the mag and clear it probly 7 out of 10 shots. I'm thinking it is an extractor/ejecter issue. At first it started stovepiping then just got worse from there. It always fires the round so its not striker related any help would be appriciated but I think I am going to have to send it in for repair. Thanks

Have you been shooting steel cased ammo in your SR9?

Ruger 41 makes a good point about a detailed clean and lube on your SR9. Clean your magazines too and then try running some rounds through your pistol agian. One other thing I've begun to learn with the SR9 is close attention to detail when you field strip and reassemble it. I don't believe that you have an unsolvable problem and that once you've figured it out you'll know enough about your pistol to keep it running all the time.

Clean out the slide, take out the extractor as well and clean it as well. Lube and put back together and Shoot. If same issue call Ruger they will take care of you.

I ran into the same thing with my SR40. It seemed to do it more often with American Eagle ammo. I stripped and cleaned the SR40. I also put some gun oil and with a pencil worked the extractor and it seems to smoothed out. Now it seems to work just fine.

Hey guys..i have tried 2 different brands of ammo, pretty sure they were brass.. But yes Ruger41 i always keep my gun well cleaned and oiled. I also detail strip the slide every so often cleaning the stiker channel and such. I have probly 800-1000 rounds out of it and it barely has any wear on it. The mag springs seem pretty good also.. But i did call Ruger and already sent it in so i will see what they say.. Thanks for the help.

Do not clean it out yet......go directly to the range and fire some rounds off to test it out. Then clean it. That is what I did. I have ran 300 rounds of 3 different brands of ammo and it has gone through them without a hiccup. I hope you get to enjoy your SR9 this weekend. |

did you notice any obvious defects? My SR40's extractor broke around 120 rounds. Think its one of those MIM parts. Been fine after repaired.

No i didnt see anything out of the ordinary..Although the new extractor looks like it sticks into the breach just a bit more than the old one...Maybe its a known problem??
