SR9 Question

Took SR9 out to range today and had multiple failures load the 9th or 10th round. And the gun would not reset since the round did not chamber properly. Since I shot the first 8 I assume it was not me? One mag worked perfect but since I usually shoot 5 in the mag am I doing something wrong spring wise? SR9C has never had a failure, but then again I do not know if I loaded all 10 rounds or if it was the new UpLoader I purchased.

Any clues?

Just for clarification; are you saying one mag worked and the other didn't? If so, just try replacing the mag spring in the one that wasn't working. One thing I learned over the years is leaving a magazine loaded doesn't wear out the spring. It is the loading and unloading that wears them out faster (compressing and releasing pressure from the spring frequently).

2 mags had the issue while the third one did not. I can't imagine it would be the springs on both mags with less than 600 rounds total, but maybe it is. Or maybe the new loader? I will try the Ruger only next time. (The mags do not get frequent loading/unloading). Just was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue.

When using the loader, count your rounds as you put them in and make sure it matches what it shows on the mag. When I use my MagLula loader, sometimes (not often, but it does happen) it shows I have 10 rounds when I only have 9. I have personally caught it each time, so I don't know if that could cause a failure or not, but I have had it throw the count off somehow. I always just unloaded the mag and reloaded it and I have never had a problem.

If you are having problems with specific magazines, then take them apart and clean them. Also make sure there are no burrs on the follower or something wrong with them. You can number your magazines to keep track of the ones that have problems vs. the good ones.
