| Ruger P89 question
Theres a P89 on auction that don't have a decock lever on the right side. It looks like theres a hole where it should be. Seller says it didn't come with one. Did they make the P89 with left hand decock lever only?

I got my P89 about 10 years ago. It has a decocking lever on BOTH sides and they are joined. Push on either and they both move.
I can't imagine producing the weapon with a open hole in the slide.

Why would somebody leave an open hole on that weapon, especially on the slide? Does that seem like a safe thing to you? Contact Ruger and ask them about it. Find out if this would ever leave the factory like this or was it a limited time run where they did leave off the other decocker. Is it safe to have it this way?

Yep my 89 has the decocker , and its bout 15 years old,, my best guess someone took it off, Ruger never made a model 89 without it and a open hole, id stay away from that one .good luck

I agree that the pistol is missing parts. Avoid it, or bring the price way down and send it in to Ruger.

My p89dc has the dc only on the left side. I was curious why it wasn't one both sides. I read sum where on another forum that the earlier models with serial numbers below 304-70000 have these. My ruger has a serial number 302-5**** maybe take a second look at this gun before passing it up or contact ruger and see if the early model p89 offered or came with a single decocker.
Aloha, Jacob

Early models had a plugged right side but there is still something there. Also the extractor goes down that side and holds in the plug or the lever.
If it is missing the plug then I bet the extractor is gone too. Post a picture if possible.

I have a P-89 manufactured around 1994. It is a manual safety model and does not have a lever on the right side of the slide. |

I purchased new in '94 a P89DC with levers on both sides. Serial #305-8.... Slide has imprinted "decock only" in front of the levers. No other safety on these models. I just put a new recoil spring, barrel link and pin in mine, first parts ever replaced after years and thousands of rounds. That tightened her up nice. So if the price is right, everything else looks good, go for it.
