I have a Milt Sparks IWB I sometimes use for my Colt Combat Commander, but I don't find It comfortable. I also have a Blackhawk Serpa I like but the most comfortable holster I have for the 5 inch 1911 is the Bodyguard by D.M. Bullard. Gun Leather, Concealment and Cowboy holsters, Azle, TX.
It has a severe cant but distribution of weight prevents pulling down on the pants my other holsters seem to do. | That is one expensive holster!
I may go with the crossbreed supertuck, as i have them for my XDM and PPS...
not sure yet as i want something really good for this new SR1911, preferably IWB

I know how you feel. I am very happy with mine too. I emailed Ruger and told them how I felt and asked them about a commander size 1911. They answered back and said it was on their wish list too.

I was the same way when I bought mine a couple weeks ago. It is a pleasure to shoot. Im enjoying it enough to look @ reloading again. It's been years, but it's like riding a bicycle.
Will be headed to the deer lease this morning....have both my SR 40 and SR 1911 in my case.....mags loaded & ready to shoot. Hoping my GF will shoot the 1911. She likes the way it feels in her hand, and I really dont think she'll have a problem with recoil.

You may end up having to get another SR 1911 after your girl friend shoots it :-)

If you go with OWB, Ruger sells a Mitch Rosen holster with the Ruger logo. It's what I carry my SR1911 in and it rides great. |

Now I guess I "need" one of these, too! Kidding aside, it's a pretty holster and I know Mitch Rosen makes great stuff. I had one for my LC9 which I never used and like better than the gun! |

Went to the range again yesterday and put 125 rounds through it, working on accuracy. I am much more accurate with this SR1911 than my XDM 40 or my Walther PPS. I seem to be shooting down and to the left about 2 inches from center mass... any tips?
Thanks
justin

justin | Justin, glad you're enjoying your new SR1911. 1911's have a way of making us more accurate.
It's possible your sights are a bit off but usually SR1911's are dead on out of the box. You may have a bit of a flinch, where you're anticipating the shot. Remember, you don't actually pull the trigger, but slowly squeeze it. My first firearms instructor used to tell us to imagine an ant was between our finger and the trigger. We didn't want to squash the ant, but to sufficate it by squeezing the air out of it. This advice has always helped me.
I would recommend getting yourself some snapcaps and to practice this technique by dry firing at home and I mean a lot. Hundreds of times over and over until this becomes natural to you. Keep doing it between range time. Once you've got it down then occasionally mix in a snapcap into your range loaded magazines. Better yet, if you can have a friend mix in the snapcap, all the better. The purpose is to recognize your follow through. If you're anticipating the shot, take notice of how you moved the gun when you come across the snapcap. I'll bet you're dipping your gun down and to the left.
If the sights are indeed off, you should still be shooting tight groups. Your rear sight on your SR1911 is adjustable. You would move your sight the same direction the shot is off, or in your case, down and to the left.
Brian Enos has a great book on shooting tips for all levels of shooters. What especially might help you is his section on dealing with recoil.
Hope this helps.
